State Bar Elections: 2026 Candidates

The State Bar will elect a president-elect, a secretary, a Judicial Council representative, and Board of Governors representatives in April 2026. The president-elect serves a one-year term before becoming president. The secretary holds the position for two years, while the Judicial Council representative​ serves a three-year term.

All State Bar elections (including for State Bar divisions and sections) will be held via electronic ballot in 2026, starting April 10, 2026. The election closes at noon Central Time on April 25, 2026. Those elected take office July 1, 2026.

The 2026 State Bar Board of Governors' candidates will be announced in March 2026.

The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body. Governors serve two-year terms.

Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors in 2026. District 2 (Milwaukee) will elect four; District 6 (Waukesha) will elect two; District 9 (Dane) will elect five; and all other districts will elect one governor.

To be considered for a seat on the Board of Governors, members must submit a Board of Governors nominating petition to the State Bar by March 2, 2026, that is signed by 10 active members in their district. Candidates will be announced in March. Elections take place in April.
