Are you looking for an affordable way to more deeply explore an area of the law? Do you seek a forum for the exchange of ideas with colleagues? Are you interested in demonstrating to your peers and clients a commitment to furthering an area of practice? Do you want to help advance crucial legislation that will shape the direction of a legal field?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then I strongly encourage you to join more than 8,000 of your colleagues by becoming a member of one or more of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s 24 vibrant and active sections.
The State Bar is a pioneer in promoting and developing sections for the purpose of focusing on specific practice areas. We stand out as one of the leaders among state bar associations nationally in making extensive use of these specialty practice groups. Unlimited in number of members and open to all who wish to participate, sections are devoted to fields of substantive law and practice. As a result, the role of State Bar sections has grown in importance over the years in developing areas of practice and furthering the legal profession.
Sections represent the single largest way in which State Bar members engage with each other to further specific areas of the law. By getting involved, you will gain valuable skills, peer recognition, and experience while influencing the direction of the legal profession in Wisconsin. You will be able to connect with other lawyers in your practice areas and build relationships with and learn from them. As a section member, you will work with colleagues on issues that matter to you and your clients. Section membership is a terrific way to find and get to know other lawyers who share your interests.
Joining a section gives you access to uniquely tailored educational opportunities and expertise through newsletters and blogs, CLE programs, networking events, legislative initiatives, and electronic information-sharing lists.
This is your opportunity to work with colleagues across your areas of practice on issues that matter to you, while furthering your knowledge and skills.
