The State Bar of Wisconsin does many things to serve you in your practice. But there are few of which I am more proud than the very publication you are holding or reading online. Wisconsin Lawyer and our companion publications InsideTrack and CaseLaw Express are some of the best in the legal field. I regularly review other state and national bar publications. I would put ours up against any other legal magazine in the country. I am not alone on this. The National Association of Bar Executives recently recognized Wisconsin Lawyer with its prestigious Luminary Award.

But we do not rest on our laurels. This is your publication, and we strive continuously to ensure that we are giving our very best to all 25,000-plus readers.

This is where we need your help.

In the coming months you will receive a survey giving you an opportunity to have a direct say in how we will shape our publications to best deliver legal information to you. I urge you to take a few minutes and provide us with your thoughts.

We want to better understand your reading preferences, the information you are interested in, and how we can best deliver it. For example, many members prefer our print publications, but we want to better understand how social media can also meet your information needs.

Our goal is simple: to keep our publications relevant to you and continue to ensure that your State Bar is the leading provider of knowledge for Wisconsin’s legal community. The information we gather through the survey will allow us to assess your preferences and behaviors and make changes, as needed, to address things such as delivery channels, content, and design. The higher the response rate, the more reliable data we will have to make sound decisions on where we should be focusing our efforts.

In the meantime, we are making a priority that our publications reflect our members’ rich diversity, talents, experiences, and knowledge. We have an incredibly dedicated and talented staff, working with a committed team of volunteer member leaders who serve on the State Bar’s Communications Committee.

But we cannot be successful without your help.

We need you to step up as we continue to build a network of diverse attorney-authors who contribute substantive articles to our communications. We need your voice and expertise and invite you to consider contributing as a columnist or featured contributor. We are working hard to build a network of diverse attorneys who contribute, not only to Wisconsin Lawyer but also to our other publications such as InsideTrack, section blogs, and PINNACLE^® books, and as seminar speakers.
