    Warren C. Jacob, USC 1983, Master of Business Taxation USC 1983, has joined the Los Angeles office of Reed Smith LLP in the real estate practice group. He previously was with O'Melveny & Myers LLP, Los Angeles.

    Eric M. Knobloch, Marquette 2007, has joined Warshafsky, Rotter, Tarnoff & Bloch S.C., Milwaukee, and will focus on personal injury claims.

Both attorneys previously were with Kenehan & Sage, Wauwatosa.

    Chris A. Jenny, U.W. 2001, has been promoted to shareholder in the Madison office of von Briesen & Roper s.c. He is with the business practice group and focuses on estate planning, real estate, business planning, and post-death administration.

    Adam Omar Shanti, Marquette 2001, has joined the London, England office of Dechert LLP as an associate in the corporate finance, private equity, and mergers and acquisitions practices.

    Mergers, Relocations, New Offices

    Jonathan Blum, U.W. 2006, has opened Blum Law Office, 440 Chestnut St., Suite 300, Wisconsin Rapids. The general practice firm emphasizes estate planning, real estate, elder law, and criminal law.

    Korth, Rodd, Mouw, and Smith has merged with O'Melia, Schiek & McEldowney S.C. The combined firms will operate under the latter name, with offices at 4 S. Stevens St., Rhinelander.

    Titania D. Whitten, Drake 1996, and Judith L. DuSell, Marquette 2001, have formed the Law Offices of Whitten and DuSell, 3333 N. Mayfair Rd., Suite 212, Wauwatosa. The firm focuses on bankruptcy, personal injury, family, consumer, and probate law.

    Appointments, Elections

    Jane Appleby, Marquette 2004, has been appointed to the State Bar Committee on Professional Ethics. She is with the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady LLP and focuses on general civil and commercial litigation.

    Kristine Euclide, U.W. 1976, has been appointed to Gov. Doyle's Taskforce on Global Warming and is cochair of the conservation and energy efficiency work group. She is vice president and general counsel of Madison Gas & Electric Co., Madison.

    Jerome G. Grzeca

    Jerome G. Grzeca, Marquette 1988, has been elected to the board of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is founder and managing partner of Grzeca Law Group S.C., Milwaukee, which focuses exclusively on immigration law.

    The Jefferson County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Tamara S. Kiewit, Johnson Creek; vice president - Tiffany L. Highstrom, Watertown; and secretary/treasurer - Jennifer L. Weber, Johnson Creek.

    The Kenosha County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Donald J. Bielski; vice president - Frank J. Parise; secretary - Donna M. Gilligan Arendt; and treasurer - Jason A. Rossell, all of Kenosha.

    The League of Municipalities-Municipal Attorneys has elected the following officers: president - Dean R. Dietrich, Wausau; and secretary - Alan R. Kesner, Wauwatosa.

    The Marathon County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Peter C. Rotter, Wausau; president-elect - Anza M. D'Antonio, Rothschild; secretary - Cari L. Logemann, Wausau; and treasurer - Virginia L. Erdman, Wausau.

    The Hon. Gerald P. Ptacek, Marquette 1974, has been elected chair of the Committee of Chief Judges, which handles administrative matters for the Wisconsin court system. Ptacek is chief judge of the second judicial administrative district, which encompasses Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth counties, and is with the Racine County Circuit Court.

    The Society of Family Lawyers has elected the following officers: president - Thomas D. Klein, Milwaukee; president-elect - Judith M. Budny, West Allis; secretary - Kimberly M. Best, Menomonee Falls; and treasurer - Kent A. Tess-Mattner, Brookfield.

    Erich C. Straub, Marquette 1994, has been named chair of the Wisconsin chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He focuses on family-based immigration matters and deportation defense with Erich C. Straub Immigration Attorney LLC, Milwaukee.

    J.D. Thorne, De Paul 1973, has been elected president of the Wisconsin chapter of the Labor and Employment Research Association. He is with Employment Law Managers, Milwaukee.

    Roy E. Wagner

    Roy E. Wagner, Marquette 1978, has been elected chair-elect of the State Bar Construction and Public Contract Law Section. He is a shareholder with von Briesen & Roper s.c., Milwaukee, and chairs the firm's construction law and litigation section.

    Gina Carter, Georgetown 1986, has been elected to the board of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. She heads the intellectual property practice group in the Madison office and the firm's intellectual property litigation team. Ann Maher, Marquette 1988, has been reelected to the board. She is vice president of the litigation department in the Milwaukee office.

    Michael F. Hupy, Marquette 1972, has been accepted into the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an honor reserved for individuals who have been lead counsel on a case that resulted in a multimillion dollar verdict, award, or settlement. He is president of Hupy and Abraham S.C., Milwaukee.

    Miguel C. Keberlein, U.W. 2002, received the Kimball R. Anderson and Karen Gatsis Anderson Public Interest Law Fellowship from the Chicago Bar Association at a ceremony in July. Keberlein, who is with the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, was honored for his work with migrant farm workers.

    The Hon. Charles B. Schudson, U.W. 1974, presented a keynote address at the Sexual Assault of Children: A New Investigative and Judicial Focus conference at the Universidad Catolica, Santiago, Chile, in August.

    Pro Bono, Public Service

    The Association for Women Lawyers Foundation awarded four scholarships to women law students at its annual meeting in September. Recipients were Rachel Abhold and Kelly Anderson, students at the U.W. Law School, and Shannon Kilpatrick and Sarah Whiting, students at Marquette Law School.
