    The Hon. Thomas Cane has been reappointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court as chief judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. He is with District III of the court of appeals. Cane has appointed Judge Neal P. Nettesheim as deputy chief judge and also has appointed the following presiding judges: Judge Ted E. Wedemeyer Jr., District I (Milwaukee); Judge Daniel P.     Rose Ann Wasserman, U.W. 1984, has authored the revised edition of A Guide to Wisconsin Employment Discrimination Law (State Bar of Wisconsin CLE Books, 3d ed. 2004). She is an administrative law judge with the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division, Milwaukee.

    Pro Bono, Public Service

    The Law Offices of Michael F. Hupy & Associates S.C., Milwaukee, recently donated $5,000 to Second Harvest of Wisconsin for the Summer Hunger Campaign. Also, attorneys from the firm provided pro bono representation to members of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club who challenged Summerfest clothing restrictions, and firm member Michael F. Hupy, Marquette 1972, donated use of his home in Whitefish Bay as the 2004 Breast Cancer Showhouse, proceeds of which go to the Cancer Center of the Medical College of Wisconsin.

    Joseph W. Boucher, U.W. 1978, received the Distinguished Achievement Award - Public Service at the St. Norbert College Alumni Awards Dinner in June. He is a founding partner of Neider & Boucher S.C., Madison.

    Critical Terms in Criminal Proceedings in Spanish and English (State Bar of Wisconsin CLE Books 2004) has received a 2004 "ACLEA's Best" outstanding achievement award from ACLEA (Association for Continuing Legal Education). The book, authored by Ronald Benavides, U.W. 1993, and Luis Cuevas, U.W. 1992, was honored in the public interest activities category.

    The Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin (LLAW) received the American Association of Law Libraries/West Excellence in Marketing Award for Best Campaign. The award was presented in honor of the organization's effort to publish articles in the legal press to enhance the image of law librarians and to educate lawyers and the public about legal resources. Over the past two years, the Wisconsin Lawyer has published several LLAW-sponsored articles on conducting legal research. The award was presented at the AALL national conference in Boston in July.

    Hon. Michael T. Sullivan, Marquette 1948, was feted recently by the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin for having donated 237 pints of whole blood since 1943. He is a reserve judge in Milwaukee. Sullivan received a framed picture drawn by a child whose life was saved by blood donations. He has also donated at Massachusetts General Hospital when a student at Harvard.

    Jonathan T. Levy, U.W. 1995, has achieved board certification in civil trial law from the Florida Bar. He recently became a name partner with Rosenthal & Levy P.A., West Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie, Fla., continuing to focus on personal injury, social security disability, wrongful death, and insurance disputes.

    Rachel Schneider, U.W. 1995, has received the 2004 Milwaukee Bar Association Distinguished Service Award. Shneider was recognized for her efforts to help Milwaukee's low-income populations access needed legal services. Schneider serves as chair of the MBA's Legal Services for the Indigent Committee. She is a partner with Quarles & Brady LLP and also serves on the firm's Clinic Support Project, a partnership between the firm, the Task Force on Family Violence, and Legal Action of Wisconsin.

    Anne Knauff, Marquette 1983, retired from federal service in June. She litigated workplace safety and health issues, focusing on mining litigation, for the U.S. Department of Labor, Nashville.
