Thomas L. Doerr Jr., Marquette 2000, and
Margaret Irish Hoefer, U.W. 2000, have joined Cook
& Franke S.C. as associates. Doerr concentrates in general corporate
and commercial and residential real estate matters in the Milwaukee
office. He previously was with Beck, Chaet & Bamberger S.C. Hoefer
concentrates in health, civil litigation, and environmental matters in
the Madison office. She previously was with Dorsey & Whitney LLP,
Minneapolis.
Four attorneys have been promoted to shareholder at DeWitt Ross &
Stevens S.C., Madison. David V. Meany, Georgetown 1983,
represents clients in complex commercial litigation matters and advises
clients on antitrust and trade regulation, regulatory compliance, and
consumer protection issues. Mark R. Sewell, U.W. 1990,
focuses on complex estate administration, commercial real estate
transactions, and business mergers and acquisitions and has extensive

juvenile law, and criminal defense matters. M. Elizabeth

Syovata K. Edari, U.W. 2001, has become an assistant
state public defender with the Appellate Division in the Milwaukee
office. Edari previously was judicial clerk to the Hon. David Deininger,
District IV Court of Appeals, Madison.
Michael Fischer, Harvard 1973, has joined Kravit,
Gass, Hovel & Leitner S.C., Milwaukee, practicing in complex
commercial, antitrust, trade regulation, and securities litigation. He
previously was a partner with Foley & Lardner, Milwaukee.

Lawrence R. LaSusa, DePaul 1986, has joined Calcutt,
Cunningham, Davison, Rogers & Boynton PLLC, Traverse City, Mich., as
an associate, focusing on litigation and advising individuals,
partnerships, corporations, and governmental agencies in business and
litigation matters. He previously was with Blue Cross Blue Shield of
Wisconsin.
Terrence J. Gaffney, Tulane 1974, has joined Sager,
Colwin, Samuelsen & Associates S.C., Fond du Lac, practicing in
estate and trust planning and administration, corporate and business
transactions and litigation, bankruptcy/reorganizations, and employment.
He previously was with Davis & Kuelthau S.C., Milwaukee; Bell, Boyd
& Lloyd, Chicago; and Gaffney Law Offices, Oak Brook, Ill.
Douglas G. Lemke, Marquette 1996 cum laude, has
become general counsel with First Magnus Financial Corp., Tucson, Ariz.
He formerly was with Brown & Bain P.A. and Meissner Tierney Fisher

Eric A. Bartsch, William Mitchell 1994 cum laude,
and Reuben A. Mjaanes, U.W. 1996 cum laude, have been
named partners in Lindquist & Vennum PLLP, Minneapolis. Bartsch
practices in antitrust, agricultural, and business litigation. Mjaanes
practices in employment, labor law, and general litigation.

Michael Mishlove, Michigan 1992 cum laude, has
joined Friebert, Finerty & St. John S.C., Milwaukee, as a senior
associate, focusing in litigation with concentrations in employment and
commercial litigation.
Connie O' Connell, U.W. 1996, has joined the
insurance practice group of LaFollette Godfrey & Kahn, Madison,
helping to represent insurance companies with complex corporate,
regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters. She previously was
the Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner.

1998, is with the information technology, telecommunications, and
intellectual property groups. He previously was corporate counsel at
Strong Funds. Thomas J. Niemiec, University of Detroit
1981, concentrates in worker's compensation issues. He previously was a
shareholder with Bassford, Lockhart, Truesdell & Briggs,
Minneapolis. Karen Tidwall, Creighton 1993 cum laude,
has joined the litigation group, focusing in products liability,
commercial and business disputes, securities matters, and toxic torts.
Molly Zillig, Creighton 1989, has joined the litigation
and transportation groups, focusing in products liability defense,
insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, professional liability defense,
toxic torts, and commercial litigation. Tidwall and Zillig previously
were with Kravit, Goss, Hovel & Leitner.
Phillip C. Theesfeld, U.W. 1993, has joined Piper
& Schmidt, Milwaukee, as an associate.
Rebecca J. Vahle, U.W. 2002, has joined the Madison
office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as an associate in the land
and resources practice group, focusing in environmental law, land use,
and real estate. She previously was a legal research intern for the
Center for Applied Legal Studies, Johannesburg, South Africa.
John D. Wilson, Maryland 1987, has rejoined the
Madison office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as a partner in the
land and resources department, focusing in utility and regulatory law.
He also will be leading the firm's government and public policy special
practice group with Raymond Taffora, U.W. 1986. Wilson
previously was vice president of public and regulatory affairs for Xcel
Energy - Wisconsin.

Buck
|
Douglas S. Buck, U.W. 1993, has moved to Foley &
Lardner's Madison office from the firm's Chicago office. Buck is a
partner in the business law department, focusing in real estate.
The Hon. Frank Thomas Crivello, Marquette 1973, has
moved his practice to the Law Offices of Seymour Pikofsky S.C., 735 N.
Water St., Suite 1100, Milwaukee, where he will continue his mediation
and arbitration practice and provide litigation support for complex
trial problems. He will also be of counsel to the firm and handle
commercial and personal injury litigation. Crivello previously was a
Milwaukee County circuit judge.
Nicole M. Jergovic, Marquette 2000, and
Peter A. Haas, Marquette 2001, have opened J
& H Law LLC, 1001 SW Fifth Ave., Portland, Ore. Jergovic
focuses on criminal defense, civil litigation, and family law.
Mark Lukoff, U.W. 1972, has opened an office in
Racine in association with Arthur B. Nathan, Marquette
1971, and Winifred A. Nathan, Marquette 1983. Lukoff
concentrates in criminal, traffic, juvenile, appellate, and social
security. He previously was with the state public defender.
Richard R. Sindic, Temple 1978, has relocated
Sindic Law Offices S.C. to 7087 W. Moreland Blvd.,
Suite 7, Waukesha. The firm, which focuses on business law, commercial
and civil litigation, personal injury, and real estate, has become of
counsel to Ladd, Milaeger & Wimmer LLP, Waukesha.
Appointments, Elections
Randal N. Arnold, U.W. 1980, has been elected to the
Wisconsin chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Membership
is by election only and is based on the candidate's courtroom
experience, personal character, and reputation. Arnold is a partner with
the Milwaukee office of Hinshaw & Culbertson, concentrating on the
defense of medical and legal malpractice matters and on professional
licensing.

Nancy M. Bonniwell, North Dakota 1984, has been
elected president of the Waukesha Estate Planning Council. She is a
partner in the Milwaukee office of Weiss Berzowski Brady LLP,
concentrating in estate administration and estate, business succession,

Jennifer Lee Edmondson, U.W. 1986, has been
appointed to the board of directors and the grants committee of the
Appleton Education Foundation, which awards grants for educational
projects that promote creativity and educational innovation.
Gerardo H. (Jerry) Gonzalez, U.W. 1988, has been
appointed to a three-year term on the board of directors for the Federal
Home Loan Bank of Chicago. He is managing partner of Gonzalez, Saggio
& Harlan L.L.P. and directs the firm's litigation practice in its
Milwaukee and Chicago offices.

appointed by Gov. James E. Doyle as special counsel to assist the
governor' s office and the Department of Administration with
negotiations concerning the renewal of gaming contracts with state
Indian tribes. Jennaro is a shareholder with Cook & Franke S.C.,
Milwaukee.
Len Kachinsky, U.W. 1978, has been ordered to active
Army duty as an administrative law officer in the office of the staff
judge advocate, Fort Eustis, Virginia. He is senior attorney in

Heather L. MacDougall, Marquette 1994, has been
appointed by President George W. Bush as chief counsel to the chair of
the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. She
previously was associate general counsel of LPA Inc.
John P. Macy, Marquette 1980, has been chosen
secretary-elect of the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section of
the American Bar Association. He is with Arentz, Molter, Macy &
Riffle S.C., Waukesha.
Michael P. Maxwell, Marquette 2001, has been elected
to the board of directors for Landmark Credit Union, Waukesha. He is
with Matthiesen, Wickert & Lehrer S.C., Hartford.
Daniel P. Bach, U.W. 1984, has been appointed deputy
attorney general for the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) by
Attorney General Peggy A. Lautenschlager, U.W. 1980. He

Michael R. Bauer, U.W. 1988, has been appointed DOJ
legal services administrator. He previously was with Lawton & Cates

Charles W. Pautsch, Illinois 1977 magna cum laude,
has been named president of Wessels & Pautsch P.C., a
management-side labor and employment law firm with offices in Milwaukee,
St. Charles and Chicago, Ill., Davenport, Iowa, and Minneapolis.
Dick Wessels, DePaul 1967, has become chair of the
firm.
John Podvin, U.W. 1991, has been appointed to the
arbitration board of the National Automated Clearing House Association -
the Electronic Payments Association. Podvin is a partner with Bracewell
& Patterson L.L.P., Dallas, Texas, focusing on assisting financial
institutions in matters involving state and federal banking laws,
regulations, supervisory agencies, mergers and acquisitions, and

Paul E. Prentiss, Duke 1971, has been appointed to a
four-year term on the Milwaukee County Personnel Review Board. Prentiss
is a partner with Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, concentrating
primarily in labor and employment law, employee benefits, and general
business litigation.

David Walsh, Harvard 1970, has received Foley &
Lardner's Lynford Lardner Community Service Award in honor of his
extensive volunteer work and community involvement, with organizations
such as the Madison Opportunity Center, the U.W. System Board of
Regents, Future Madison, and The Foundation Fighting Blindness. He is a
partner with the Madison office of Foley & Lardner. The firm will
donate $5,000 on Walsh's behalf to The Foundation Fighting
Blindness.
Retirements
The Hon. Raymond F. Thums, U.W. 1964, will retire
from the Marathon County Circuit Court, effective July 31. He has
presided in Branch 2 of the court since 1988.
