William D. Bolte, U.W. 2018 cum laude, has joined Bell, Moore & Richter S.C., Madison, as an associate. He focuses his practice on estate planning and probate and representing businesses.
John Calewarts, Marquette 2015, has been promoted to shareholder at the Law Firm of Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry S.C., Green Bay, and continues to focus on estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, general corporate law, real estate, and tax and succession planning. He also is a certified public accountant.
Dan Kaminsky, Marquette 2002, has joined the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady LLP as a partner. Kaminsky, previously chair of the real estate group at Davis|Kuelthau s.c., represents clients that acquire and develop retail, office, industrial, health-care, and multifamily-residential properties and works on matters involving sales and acquisitions, leases, finance, construction and architect contracts, zoning and land use, and entity formation.
Sarah J. Knutson, Marquette 2011, has been named a partner at Appleton-based McCarty Law LLP. She is part of the business and corporate law section and concentrates on corporate and business transactions, especially mergers and acquisitions.
Kelly Leibhan, U.W. 2021, has joined the Kenosha office of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. as an associate and focuses on personal-injury law. Previously, she was with the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office in Kenosha.
Nils Wyosnick, Univ. of Illinois-Chicago 2011, and David Bolles,U.W. 2008, have joined Murphy Desmond S.C., Madison. Wyosnick represents clients in felony and misdemeanor offenses and traffic offenses, including operating while intoxicated and related matters. Previously, he managed Wyosnick Legal LLC, Madison. Bolles has handled complex civil litigation, property disputes, general insurance defense, and criminal defense and has extensive courtroom experience with personal-injury, insurance-defense, and criminal-prosecution matters. Previously he worked at Wyosnick Legal LLC, Madison.
Michelle Angell, Thomas Jefferson 2004, and Carolyn Salutz, Marquette 2020 with honors,have joined Renning, Lewis & Lacy s.c. Angell, in the Oshkosh office, represents public- and private-sector clients in school and higher education law, labor and employment law, and debtor-creditor law and provides support for other practice areas. Salutz, in the Green Bay office, represents public- and private-sector clients in school and higher education law and labor and employment law and provides support for other practice areas. Salutz previously worked in civil and criminal litigation for Wisconsin Judicare.
Joseph A. Camilli, Hamline 2012, has joined von Briesen & Roper s.c. He is a shareholder in the Madison office and focuses on business and corporate issues, mergers and acquisitions, and employment matters. Courtney A. Hollander, U.W. 2014, LL.M. (taxation) New York Univ., has been promoted to shareholder with the firm and practices from the Milwaukee and Neenah offices. She is co-chair of the International Tax Section and a member of the Tax and Securities Sections and focuses on international, federal, and state tax matters. Hollander is also an Investment Adviser Certified Compliance Professional and works with financial service firms on compliance matters.
Michael Weigel, U.W. 2013, has been promoted to partner at Mayer Brown LLP. He is a member of the Fund Formation & Investment Management group in the Chicago office, representing private equity fund sponsors on a broad range of issues, including structuring, negotiating, and forming private equity funds, co-investments, joint ventures, and other investment opportunities with real estate-related investment strategies.
Appointments, Elections
Lida Bannink, U.W. 2012, has been elected to the board of United Way St. Croix Valley. Bannink is a shareholder and lead labor and employment attorney at Eckberg Lammers P.C., Stillwater, Minn. Her practice focuses on counseling employers, both businesses and municipalities, on how to manage laws and regulations to support their entities’ human-resource needs.
Ashley Morse, U.W. 2009, has been appointed to the Rock County Circuit Court by Gov. Tony Evers. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Daniel T. Dillon, Notre Dame 1973. Morse previously worked for the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office, representing indigent clients as an assistant state public defender in criminal and civil proceedings in counties across the state. She also served on the Rock County Trauma Task Force and the Rock County Youth Justice Racial Disparities Committee and coached the Turner High School mock trial team.
Tom O’Day, U.W. 2005, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation board of trustees. He is a partner in the Madison office of Husch Blackwell LLP and a member of the Healthcare, Education & Life Sciences industry group and the Labor & Employment team. He counsels hospitals, physician groups, health systems, and individual providers on complex employment and medical staff matters.
Wendy S. Rusch, U.W. 2000, has been appointed Wisconsin State Chair of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. She is a shareholder in the Trusts and Estate and Corporate Law practices at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., Waukesha, and focuses on estate planning, family business succession planning, retirement planning, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and probate and trust administration. Rusch also represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in estate and trust disputes and advises clients on estate, gift, and income tax issues.
C. Thomas Sylke, U.W. 1985, has been appointed State Director (Wisconsin) for the Task Force on National and Homeland Security, an official Congressional Advisory Board assisting in efforts to achieve protection of the United States from electromagnetic pulse attacks, cyber attacks, mass-destruction terrorism, and other threats to civilian critical infrastructures. Sylke is board chair for U.W.-Madison’s Grainger Institute for Engineering and principal of Liberty Bluff Advisors LLC.

Milwaukee-based trial and litigation firm Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown (GRGB) has been recognized as a “Top Pro Mom Workplace” by Working Moms of Milwaukee.This honor is given to businesses that are promoting, advocating for, protecting, and flexible with mothers, especially since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. GRGB was recognized for its fully paid maternity-leave policy, open paid time off, family flexibility, daycare reimbursement, unlimited breaks for pumping, and COVID-19 safety measures.
Recipients of Marquette University Law School’s 2022 alumni awards include the following: Rebeca López, Marquette 2012, is recipient of the Howard B. Eisenberg Service Award. She practices with Godfrey & Kahn SC in Milwaukee, is president of Centro Legal, and is vice president of the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers’ Association. Christine Wilde Woleske, Marquette 1994, received the Alumna of the Year Award. She is president and CEO of Bellin Health Systems Inc., Green Bay. Michael J. Gonring, Marquette 1982, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a former partner at Quarles & Brady LLP and executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee.
