State Bar Annual Convention, May 7, 2009, Milwaukee
“It strikes me that a caring society can do a better job for its citizens than sending them to a secret room with a bag over their head and a tank of helium to exit this world,” writes Bill Colby. In a riveting talk about the ethics of end-of-life decisions, Colby will present “The Right to Die in America: Its Constitutional, Legal, and Medical Impact” during the State Bar Annual Convention. The Thursday morning Spotlight CLE program includes a panel discussion on end-of-life decision making. The Elder Law Section is sponsoring the program, to be held May 7, 8:30 – 11:15 a.m., at the Midwest Airlines Center, Milwaukee. For more information, visit State Bar Annual Convention.
Encourage your clients, family members, and friends to make decisions now about future medical care. To make planning easier, the State Bar published a consumer guide, A Gift to Your Family: Planning Ahead for Future Health Needs. The guide includes Wisconsin state forms to help individuals put their wishes in writing. The guide is available in English and Spanish at www.wisbar.org/lifeplan.
