    New Hires, Promotions, Partners

    Chris Ashley, U.W. 1991, has become general counsel and secretary of the Research Foundation for the State University of New York. He previously was deputy general counsel for the University of Wisconsin System.

    Kate A. Frigo, U.W. 2011, has joined StrangBradley LLC, Madison, as an associate, practicing criminal defense in state and federal courts. She formerly was an assistant state public defender.

    Joan G. Hallock, William Mitchell 1985, has become of counsel at Aplin & Ringsmuth LLC and will defend Minnesota worker’s compensation claims. She previously was a worker’s compensation defense attorney and judge in Minnesota.

    Megann HendrixMegann Hendrix, Marquette 2010, has joined Walny Legal Group LLC, Milwaukee, practicing family and elder law, including Medicaid asset planning and eligibility and adult guardianship proceedings.

    Tiffany L. HighstromTiffany L. Highstrom, Marquette 2004, has joined Stafford Rosenbaum LLP, Madison, as a senior associate practicing family law. She also serves as a guardian ad litem in family, juvenile, and probate court.

    Mark T. Johnson, U.W. 2008 cum laude, has been named partner with the Law Offices of Christenson and Allex LLC, Fitchburg, where he focuses on estate planning, trust and probate administration, and elder and special needs law.

    Nels KjomeNels Kjome, Marquette 2004, has joined the Janesville office of Murphy Desmond S.C. as a shareholder, practicing family law and divorce, criminal defense, and business law. He previously was in private practice.

    Brian T. Fahl, Rutgers-Camden 2002, has joined Kravit, Hovel & Krawczyk s.c., Milwaukee, and focuses on white-collar criminal defense, commercial litigation, and appeals. Benjamin R. Prinsen, U.W. 2009 cum laude, has been elected shareholder and continues to practice in business and commercial litigation.

    Michael C. Menghini, Marquette 2009, has been promoted to partner at Herrling Clark Law Firm Ltd., Appleton. He is with the business, real estate, and litigation practice group.

    Bryant Park, Marquette 2014, has joined Becker, Hickey & Poster S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate.

    Jason Plowman, Washington Univ. 2008 cum laude, has joined Fisher & Phillips LLP, Kansas City, Mo., as an associate practicing labor and employment law. He previously was with Quad/Graphics Inc.

    Michael Schaefer, U.W. 1987, has become an administrative law judge with the U.S. Social Security Administration, Office of Disability Adjudication and Review, Knoxville, Tenn. He previously was a Wisconsin assistant attorney general.

    Evan TenebrusoEvan Tenebruso, U.W. 2011, has joined Boardman & Clark LLP, Madison, as an associate practicing with the litigation practice group. He previously practiced with a Milwaukee-area firm.

    Steven J. Thomas, Marquette 1992, has become senior vice president, chief risk and compliance officer, for Kohl’s Department Stores Inc., Menomonee Falls. He also is responsible for government relations at a national, state, and local level.

    Mergers, Relocations, New Offices

    Deborah A. Blommer, U.W. 1991, James Ramseyer, U.W. 1988, and Annie Schumacher, U.W. 2001, have formed Blommer Law Office LLC, 13730 W. Greenfield Ave., Brookfield, focusing on estate planning, real estate transactional work (commercial and residential), and REO closings through Blommer’s company, Merit Title LLC.

    Kerkman & Dunn, also known as Kerkman Dunn Sweet DeMarb, has split its Milwaukee and Madison offices into two stand-alone law firms. The Milwaukee-based firm will retain the name Kerkman & Dunn. The Madison-based firm will be Sweet DeMarb LLC.

    Quarles & Brady LLP has opened an office at 8817 E. Bell Rd., Suite 201, Scottsdale, Ariz.

    Appointments, Elections

    Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, U.W. 1976, has been reelected to the board of the International Association of Women Judges.

    James Casey, Dayton 1988, has been elected president-elect of the State Bar of Wisconsin Nonresident Lawyers Division. He is currently based in Pittsburgh.

    Robert E. Cattanach Jr., U.W. 1975, has been elected chair of the board for the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, St. Paul. He is with Dorsey & Whitney LLP, Minneapolis, and practices in regulatory litigation and international regulatory compliance.

    Blaise Di Pronio, Marquette 1979, Di Pronio Law Office, Muskego, has been appointed fourth district alderman for the city of Muskego.

    Jennifer Lee Edmondson, U.W. 1986, has been appointed to the Outagamie County Administrative Review Appeals Board. She owns Edmondson Law Office in Appleton with her husband, John B. Edmondson, U.W. 1986.

    Amanda Pirt MeyerAmanda Pirt Meyer, Marquette 2011, with the Madison office of Hupy and Abraham S.C., has been appointed cochair of the ABA Young Lawyers Division Tort, Trial, and Insurance Practice Committee.

    Maxfield E. Neuhaus, Hamline 2008, has been appointed a special investigator to the Office of Lawyer Regulation by Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson.

    Karen PerzanKaren Perzan, Columbia 1985, has joined the Wisconsin Commercial Real Estate Women board and has been elected chapter delegate for the national Commercial Real Estate Women. She is with the real estate practice group in the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady LLP.

    Awards, Degrees, Honors

    Andrus Intellectual Property Law, Milwaukee, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The firm was opened by Elwin A. Andrus on Oct. 1, 1939, and is the longest-operating law firm in Wisconsin devoted exclusively to the practice of intellectual property law.

    Thomas J. Erickson, Marquette 1985, won second place in the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets’ 2013 Chapbook Contest for The Lawyer Who Died in the Courthouse Bathroom (Parallel Press of University of Wisconsin Libraries).

    The Milwaukee Bar Association presented a Distinguished Service Award to the Hon. John P. Anderson, William Mitchell 1989, Bayfield County Circuit Court, and Mary Wolverton, Marquette 1978, Peterson, Johnson & Murray S.C., Milwaukee, for their work as cochairs of the Limited Scope Representation Subcommittee of the Supreme Court’s Planning and Policy Advisory Committee.

    Retirements
