The State Bar pays the premium for professional liability insurance coverage through the NLADA Insurance Program. The insurance provides coverage for the legal services that volunteer lawyers provide in State Bar sponsored pro bono programs and projects. There is no extra cost to you.
Programs listed in the State Bar's pro bono directory will indicate whether the project provides insurance coverage (through the State Bar or another source) for volunteers.
Many smaller pro bono projects are unable to provide professional liability insurance directly, so the State Bar has arranged to co-sponsor a number of projects to make it easier for you to volunteer and access this benefit.
