The State Bar pays the premium for professional liability insurance coverage through the NLADA Insurance Program. The insurance provides coverage for the legal services that volunteer lawyers provide in State Bar sponsored pro bono programs and projects. There is no extra cost to you.
Coverage is also available to in-house, government, and retired lawyers who want to volunteer but lack professional liability coverage. If you fall into one of these groups please contact the State Bar Pro Bono Program Manager to find out how you can obtain coverage as a State Bar volunteer.
Many smaller pro bono projects are unable to provide professional liability insurance directly, so the State Bar has arranged to co-sponsor a number of projects to make it easier for you to volunteer and access this benefit.
