Biography/Comments

Steven R. Sorenson is currently shareholder in the law firm vonBriesen & Roper, s.c. in their newly established Fox Valley office in Oshkosh. He is the former owner and principal of the Sorenson Law Office with offices in Ripon and Laona Wisconsin. He received his BA degree in Business Administration and Political Science from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1972 and his law degree from Marquette University in 1977. Sorenson is a former newspaper editor and radio station news editor. As a lawyer Sorenson has served in many capacities with the State Bar of Wisconsin, chairing several of the State Bar Standing Committees, including the Finance, Solo and Small Firm, Communications, Convention and Entertainment Committees. Sorenson served as Secretary in 1994-96 and then President in 1997-1998. Sorenson is a Past-President and Life Fellow of the National Conference of Bar Presidents. Currently he is a Fellow of the ABA Law Foundation and past-president of the Wisconsin Law Foundation Fellows. He is a member of the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility and served on the ABA standing committee on Professionalism. In 2003 he received the ABA Outstanding Sole Practitioner Award. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Senior Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He recently complete a 16 year term as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Community Health Network (CHN) and is a former member of the Fond du Lac County Board where he chaired the Protection of Property and Persons Committee. Sorenson is an adjunct professor of Political & Government as well Economics & Business at Ripon College. Sorenson teaches ethics, media law, land use law, business law, and constitutional law. Sorenson is a frequent lecturer on Real Estate Law and Ethics. Sorenson served as a member of the United States Military Joint Civilian Orientation Commission where he was the team leader of the Army investigation team. He is active in his community as a member of Ripon & Green Lake Chambers of Commerce, Kiwanis, Masons, Oshkosh Area Community Foundation Board, and President of the Ripon Main Street program.
