Doar, Drill & Skow, an AV-rated general practice law firm in New Richmond, Wisconsin (approximately 20 miles East of Minnesota), is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to join our growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about criminal defense work and eager to take on meaningful responsibility representing clients at all stages of a case.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in criminal defense, exceptional analytical and legal research skills, and the ability to manage cases with precision and professionalism. This role involves direct client interaction, motion practice, court appearances, and collaboration with experienced attorneys.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Wisconsin.
- 1-3 years of criminal defense experience required
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
- Confidence handling hearings, motions, and negotiations
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in criminal matters from intake through resolution
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and other pleadings
- Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials as needed
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes
