    Staff Attorney – Construction Industry

    ​​How your role fits into Boldt:

    ​​As a Staff Attorney for the Boldt Company, you will work with our Risk Management team to perform various legal tasks for our offices or project sites to address legal issues, with an emphasis on reviewing and negotiating owner contracts and subcontracts, addressing project claims, both insured and uninsured, as well as other corporate law matters.

    ​​Required Skills

    ​​What you get to do:

    -​​Review proposed client contracts and provide a terms and conditions review as a part of our Strategic Project Qualification process.

    -​​Participate in pre-bid corporate bid reviews.

    -Negotiate contracts with our clients after projects have been awarded.

    -Assist in reviewing the corporate insurance program and managing insurance claims as needed.

    -Review and draft non-disclosure agreements as needed.

    -Assist in developing teaming agreements and joint venture formations.

    -Assist in reviewing and negotiating subcontracts, purchase orders and equipment and property leases as needed.

    -Resolve contract disputes with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers as needed.

    -Review changes and updates to legislation and regulations impacting the construction industry and assess operational impacts.

    -Work with and supervise outside counsel when engaged to assist with a specific project and review as well as approve invoices for their services.

    -Supporting e-discovery and other litigation discovery-related activities.

    -Develop and provide training to operations and management teams as needed.

    -Partner with Corporate Safety to manage and train project teams on risk avoidance and claims procedures.

    ​​What we expect from you:

    -​​At least five years of substantive legal experience with a general business emphasis in law and a corporate legal department or law firm.

    -J.D. degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school, and admission to practice and good standing status in a State Bar Association.

    -Transaction and contract drafting, and negotiation experience required (construction or other in-house experience preferred).

    -Interest and experience in technology, software and data analytics are a plus.

    ​​Physical requirements and working conditions:

    ​​While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours. The employee occasionally is required to move to access people or workspaces. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The ability to effectively communicate is required. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds. The working conditions of this position require the employee to work inside an office environment. The environment for which this position functions may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
