    Appointments, Elections

    Francine Bailey, U.W. 2006, was appointed National Conferences Coordinator with the ABA Young Lawyers Division. Bailey is with The Bellows Law Group PC, Chicago, and is a State Bar of Wisconsin Young Lawyers Division board member.

    Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, U.W. 1976, was elected to the International Association of Women Judges board and will represent the North American region, comprising the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

    Anthony CottonAnthony Cotton, Marquette 2005, was appointed a supplemental court commissioner for the Hon. William Domina, Waukesha County. Cotton also was elected to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers board. He is a partner with Kuchler & Cotton S.C., Waukesha.

    Charles M. DentonCharles M. Denton, Michigan 1981, was elected to the Michigan Chemistry Counsel's board. He is a partner with Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Grand Rapids, Mich., practicing in the environmental department.

    Allen C. Schlinsog Jr.Allen C. Schlinsog Jr., John Marshall 1991, has been named president of the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association. Schlinsog, a shareholder with Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C., Milwaukee, is the chair of the product liability and safety team in the litigation practice area and focuses on defending the industrial machinery, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries.

    Elisabeth Shea, U.W. 2008, was elected Dane County Bar Association president-elect. She is with Stafford Rosenbaum LLP, Madison, and focuses on general municipal law and business matters.

    Charles Stone, Marquette 2009 cum laude, was appointed adjunct professor of business at Peking University's Market Economy Academy in Beijing, where he recently taught Organizational Behavior East and West, in Chinese. Stone is an associate with Weiss Berzowski Brady LLP, Milwaukee.

    Emily Dudak Taylor, Tulane 2005, has been accepted into the American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys (AAARTA). Dudak also was named the liaison between the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys International Adoption Committee and the AAARTA Executive Council on Immigration and International Issues. She is with the Law Center for Children & Families, Madison.

    Marilyn TownsendMarilyn Townsend, Potomac 1979, was elected Shorewood Hills municipal court judge. She is a sole practitioner in Madison, focusing on employment law on behalf of employees and labor unions.

    Laura Skilton Verhoff, U.W. 1997, was elected to the State Bar Board of Governors. Verhoff is a partner at Stafford Rosenbaum LLP, Madison, focusing on litigation and estate planning and probate.

    Author, Speakers

    Maren Beermann, U.W. 2008, and Gretchen G. Viney, U.W. 1978, coauthored the revised third edition of Guardianship and Protective Placement for the Elderly in Wisconsin (State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE 2012). Beermann is director of the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups' Wisconsin Guardianship Support Center, Madison. Viney practices with Viney & Viney, Baraboo, and is a clinical professor of law with the U.W. Law School, Madison.

    Alex Flynn, Marquette 1984, was a visiting professor of criminal law at the University of Tartu in Estonia under the auspices of the Center for International Studies Senior Lawyers Program. Flynn practices in Milwaukee.

    Timothy S. JacobsonTimothy S. Jacobson, Marquette 1992, authored the novel The Kurchatov Penetration. He is executive director of Mississippi Valley Conservancy, a nonprofit land trust based in La Crosse.

    Christie A. Linskens Christie, Marquette 1987 cum laude, received her Ph.D. in urban education, multicultural studies from UW-Milwaukee in May. She is a staff attorney in the guardian ad litem division of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee and an adjunct professor at Marquette Univ. Law School and Moraine Park Technical College.

    Timothy P. Crawford, Marquette 1972, has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Crawford is a sole practitioner with offices in Brookfield, Milwaukee, and Racine.

    John W. Daniels Jr.John W. Daniels Jr., Harvard 1974, received the Friend of the University Award from the Marquette University Alumni Association. He is chair of Quarles & Brady LLP, Milwaukee.

    Nathan J. DineenNathan J. Dineen, Ave Maria School of Law 2010, has been certified in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Drug Recognition and Evaluation by Lance Platt & Associates. He is an associate with Vanden Heuvel & Dineen S.C., Germantown, and focuses on driving-under-the-influence defense.

    Richard Gallagher, Harvard 1967, has been named a “Life Member” of the American Law Institute in recognition of 25 years of involvement. He is a partner at the Milwaukee office of Foley & Lardner LLP.

    Michael J. GonringMichael J. Gonring, Marquette 1982, received the Milwaukee Bar Association's (MBA) 2012 Distinguished Service Award for his service to the bar and for his efforts to promote pro bono activities within the profession. He is a partner with the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady LLP. Other individuals recognized by the MBA for outstanding legal achievements are the Hon. William A. Jennaro (ret.), Marquette 1968, of counsel, Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown, Lifetime Achievement Award; Julie J. Darnieder, Marquette 1978, director, Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic, Lawyer of the Year Award; and James L. Santelle, Chicago 1983, U.S. Attorney, Eastern District of Wisconsin, E. Michael McCann Distinguished Public Service Award.

    Tom Kyle, Hamline 1996, completed the Advanced Studies in Trial Advocacy curriculum at the National College of Advocacy. He is a fellow of the college and practices with Pitman, Kyle, Sicula & Dentice S.C., Milwaukee.

    Dennis R. McBride, NYU 1989, received the UW-Milwaukee (UWM) Alumni Citizenship Award for his historic preservation activities, his work as a senior trial attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and as president of the city of Wauwatosa Common Council, and his efforts on behalf of UWM.

Talks, speeches (unless they are of national stature), honors bestowed by other publications, and political announcements are not accepted as announcements. Notices about State Bar members in good standing are printed at no cost, must be submitted in writing, and are subject to editing.
