    Thomas J. 

    Thomas J. Connelly, Western New England 1976, has joined Wilhelm Law Service S.C., Appleton, and focuses on patent, trademark, and copyright law. He previously was senior patent counsel with Kimberly-Clark Corp.

    Thomas C. Ewing, Marquette 1978, has been promoted to senior vice president of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Bentonville, Ark. He also is general counsel of Wal-Mart Stores Division.

    Patricia Kelley Fleetwood, Iowa 1978, has joined the Schroeder Group S.C., Attorneys at Law, Waukesha, and focuses on estate planning, trusts, and probate litigation.

    Anthea L. Hasler, U.W. 2006, has joined the Law Center for Children & Families, Madison, and focuses on elder law issues.

    James J. Killean, Vanderbilt 1999, has become a director and shareholder with Ireland, Stapleton, Pryor & Pascoe P.C., Denver.

    Peg Lautenschlager, U.W. 1980, and Daniel Bach, U.W. 1984, have joined Lawton & Cates S.C., Madison. Their areas of concentration include consumer, environmental, securities, antitrust, employment, and commercial litigation, criminal defense, political and election law, and mediation. Lautenschlager formerly was Wisconsin attorney general. Bach formerly was a Wisconsin deputy attorney general.

    David S. Kowalski

    David S. Kowalski, Marquette 2006, has joined Balisle & Roberson S.C., Madison, as an associate and focuses on divorce, child custody litigation, issues of nontraditional families, and appellate practice.

    Joseph J. Voelkner, Marquette 2000, has been named a partner in Olsen, Kloet, Gunderson & Conway, Sheboygan, and continues to focus on civil and commercial litigation, worker's compensation, secured transactions, creditors' rights, business and corporate matters, and insurance coverage defense. Corrado Cirillo, Chicago-Kent 2001, has joined the firm as an associate and practices in construction litigation, personal injury matters, and insurance law.

    Laura Krishnan, U.W. 1998 cum laude, and Peter Shimabukuro, Pennsylvania 1993, have been elected equity shareholders in Parsinen Kaplan Rosberg + Gotlieb P.A., Minneapolis. Krishnan focuses on estate planning, probate, and family business planning. Shimabukuro focuses on corporate organization and governance, mergers and acquisitions, financing, business succession planning, and securities.

    Anthony J. Anzelmo, Marquette 2006, and Beth A. Whitaker, U.W. 1999, have joined the Madison office of Peterson, Johnson & Murray S.C. Whitaker, previously an administrative law judge for the Wisconsin Division of Hearings and Appeals, focuses on litigation and worker's compensation.

    Sue Ehrmann Provenzano, U.W. 1995 cum laude, has been promoted to associate clinical professor at Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago.

    Frank A. Reino, Marquette 2003, has joined Fisher & Zucker, Philadelphia, as an associate and focuses on business law with an emphasis on franchise law.

    David Rose, Marquette 1998, has become assistant counsel to New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, Albany. He previously was chief legal counsel to the speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives.

Ramirez, Marquette 1988, and Philip C. Reid, Minnesota 1985, are shareholders in the litigation and risk management practice group. Sara L. Harris, Marquette 2006, is an associate in the labor and employment and compensation and benefits sections. Jessica M. Swietlik, Marquette 2006 cum laude, is an associate in the litigation and risk management practice group. Anne E. Wal, Marquette 2006, is an associate in the real estate, construction, and banking, bankruptcy, and business restructuring sections.

    Jennifer Hansen, Marquette 1995, and Jack Jakubiak, Marquette 1996, have joined the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Regional Counsel, Milwaukee. Hansen, formerly with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Rochester, Minn., focuses on medical malpractice claims and employment law. Jakubiak, previously serving with the U.S. Army, focuses on employment law and subrogation matters. Michael Newman, Minnesota 1990, has returned to the office as assistant regional counsel after a one-year mobilization with the Army. Jeffrey Hart, Seattle 1992, formerly acting assistant regional counsel and now a trial defense attorney, has been mobilized by the Army.

    Jamie Wiemer, Minnesota 2006 magna cum laude, has joined Alex Flynn and Rebecca Lawnicki at Alex Flynn & Associates S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate trial attorney. The general practice law firm emphasizes civil and criminal litigation in federal and state courts.

    David Wollenziehn, U.W. 1983, C.P.A., has joined David F. Grams & Associates, Madison, and focuses on real estate, corporate law, business transactions, and tax law.

    Appointments, Elections

    Four Wisconsin Court of Appeals judges have been selected to serve on the Government Accountability Board's candidate committee, which will nominate individuals to serve on the board. Committee members are the Hon. Patricia S. Curley, Marquette 1973, District I; the Hon. Neal P. Nettesheim, Marquette 1966, District II; the Hon. Gregory A. Peterson, U.W. 1973, District III; and the Hon. Margaret J. Vergeront, U.W. 1975, District IV. The judges' names were picked from a hat by Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson. The board replaces the current State Elections and State Ethics boards and will administer the state's election, campaign finance, ethics, and lobbying laws.

    Michael P. Maxwell, Marquette 2001, has been elected vice chair of the Landmark Credit Union board. He is managing partner of Maxwell Jones LLP, Milwaukee.

    Dan Miske, DePaul 1985, has been elected president of Petrie & Stocking S.C., Milwaukee. He focuses on condominium law.

    John Pray, U.W. 1986, has been appointed to the Board of Bar Examiners by the Wisconsin Supreme Court. He is a clinical associate professor at the U.W. Law School's Remington Center.

    The Richland County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Dominic J. Anderson; and secretary/treasurer - James J. Robb, both of Richland Center.

    Holly J. Slota

    Holly J. Slota, U.W. 2003, has been elected special events cochair of the Legal Association for Women. She is an associate at Balisle & Roberson S.C., Madison, and focuses on estate planning and family law for traditional and nontraditional families.

    The Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association has elected the following officers: president - Carmen M. Ortiz-Babilonia; president-elect - Kristela L. Cervera; secretary - Carlos A. Ortiz; and treasurer - David A. Westrup, all of Milwaukee.

    The Wisconsin Supreme Court has appointed three circuit court judges to serve as chief judges for their respective judicial administrative districts. In the Fourth Judicial District, the Hon. Darryl W. Deets, Illinois 1976, Manitowoc County, succeeds the Hon. L. Edward Stengel. In the Fifth Judicial District, the Hon. C. William Foust, U.W. 1978, Dane County, succeeds the Hon. Michael N. Nowakowski. In the Seventh Judicial District, the Hon. William D. Dyke, U.W. 1960, Iowa County, succeeds the Hon. Michael Rosborough. The court also reappointed two chief judges, the Hon. Kitty K. Brennan, U.W. 1977, Milwaukee County, and the Hon. Benjamin D. Proctor, U.W. 1971, Eau Claire County.

    The Hon. Annette Ziegler, Marquette 1989, has been elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She is a Washington County circuit court judge.

    David I. Cisar
    David I. Cisar, U.W. 1992, has been board certified in creditors' rights law by the American Board of Certification. He is chair of the banking and commercial transactions section of von Briesen & Roper s.c., Milwaukee.

    Foley & Lardner LLP, Milwaukee, received the Vision Award from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation for dedicating pro bono hours to complex community projects, including redevelopment of the Menomonee Valley, assistance to the 30th Street Industrial Corridor, completion of the Hank Aaron State Trail, and development of the new Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin.
