Mark S. Brown, U.W. 1998, has been made a partner

Ann K. Chandler, Marquette 1987, has joined the
Delafield office of Weiss Berzowski Brady LLP as an associate in the
real estate practice group. Chandler has been a lecturer at the U.W. Law
School and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Central
Florida and U.W.-Milwaukee.
Mark Diestelmeier, Iowa 1991, has joined Marshfield
Clinic as associate general counsel. He previously was a shareholder at
von Briesen, Purtell & Roper S.C. in Milwaukee, where he focused on
health law and civil litigation.

Carter, a member of the chemical practice group in the intellectual
property department, focuses on client counseling, licensing,
preparation and prosecution relating to U.S. and foreign patents in
chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and material science
technologies. He previously was a research scientist and manager in
industrial and academic settings and has been awarded more than 45 U.S.
patents.
Hess, a member of the estates & trusts practice group, counsels
privately owned businesses in business and estate planning matters. He
also practices with the commercial transactions and business counseling
group, focusing on mergers, acquisitions, and financing for private
companies. He also practices in general corporate and commercial
matters, and the effective use of ownership, management, and business
succession techniques, with an emphasis on limited liability companies,
limited partnerships, shareholder agreements, and sophisticated estate
planning.
Gonzalez Knavel is a member of the payments/compliance practice
group, counseling clients on corporate matters and the general
operational issues of hospitals and health care facilities, compliance
issues, Medicare reimbursement, and the acquisition and sale of medical
practice groups. Knavel previously managed a medical clinic.
Simon practices in the litigation department's compliance, counseling
and government enforcement and antitrust groups, representing clients in
complex commercial litigation before trial and appellate courts. He also
represents corporations and individuals in a variety of criminal and
other government enforcement matters.
A member of the securities litigation group, Wronski focuses his
practice on complex commercial litigation and trial work in banking and
finance, commercial loan enforcement and workouts, insolvency-related
litigation under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and state law insolvency
provisions, the Uniform Commercial Code, securities law, the Racketeer
Influenced Corrupt Organizations Act, and software licensing
disputes.

partner: Anat Hakim, Harvard 1993, a member of the

technology practice groups, works on patent, trademark, and domain name

Andrew R. Liverman, Valparaiso 1993 with honors, has
been elected shareholder at Gendlin & Safran S.C. Liverman joined

Basil J. Buchko Jr., Notre Dame 1999, and
Stephen C. Werner Jr., U.W. 1997, have joined Whyte
Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. Buchko joins the Manitowoc office, focusing his
practice on corporate transactions and business law. Werner practices
with the intellectual property, information technology and e-commerce
and private equity groups in the Madison office. He previously was a
member of the firm's Milwaukee office. Werner is a director of the State
Bar's Young Lawyers Division.

Jennifer Ament Moeller, Marquette 1994, have formed

Authors, Speakers
David Patrick Eich, Columbia 1992, is the co-author
of "European LBOs - Key Issues for U.S. Sponsors," which was published
in the fall 2001 edition of The Venture Capital Review, the
flagship publication of the National Venture Capital Association.
Awards, Degrees, Honors
Foley & Lardner was recently recognized as one
of Information Week's 25 Innovators in Collaboration, the
first-ever law firm to be named to the list. The magazine lauded the
firm for its use of intranets to deliver more collaborative and timely
work products, and for creating knowledge-based products like
client-specific extranets.
Delos N. Lutton, Chicago 1973, a shareholder in
Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C., led a delegation of attorneys to meet
with officials of the United Nations (U.N.) and the World Trade
Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The delegation will discuss
human rights, HIV/AIDS prevention, labor, and environmental issues with
the U.N. and affiliated agencies, and will address international trade
with the WTO.
Elizabeth Rindskopf-Parker, Michigan 1968, is chair
of the American Bar Association's Section of Business Law's
CyberSecurity Privacy Task Force. The task force will work to identify
and interpret the ramifications of new laws, such as the anti-terrorism
USA Patriot Act of 2001. Rindksopf-Parker is dean of the McGeorge School
of Law at the University of the Pacific, and U.W. general counsel.
Chief Judge Michael J. Skwierawski, Milwaukee
County, and District Court Administrator Steven R.
Steadman, La Crosse County, recently took part in the
Conference on Bioterrorism, Biological Attack and the Courts in Oakland,
Calif. The conference provided scientific, legal, and security
information to court leaders from around the nation. The U.S. Department
of Energy, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and
the Conference of Chief Justices sponsored the conference. The program
was coordinated by the Einstein Institute for Science, Health & the
Courts, in Maryland.
Skwierawski is chief judge for Wisconsin's First Judicial District in
Milwaukee County, overseeing the administration of the courts and
working with professional court administrators.
Steadman is district court administrator for Wisconsin's Seventh
Judicial District.
Vincent A. Thomas, U.W. 1986, assistant dean of
students and adjunct professor of law at Hamline University School of
Law, was elected chair of the Association of American Law Schools'
Section on Prelegal Education and Admission to Law School at the
association's 2002 annual meeting in New Orleans, La.
