    Victor Dana Brooks, Northeastern 1972, and Nina H. Martel, U.W. 1989, have relocated the law firm of Brooks & Martel S.C. to 30 N. 18th Ave., Building 10-A, Sturgeon Bay.

    Terence R. Collins, U.W. 1977, of Collins, Quillin & Knothe Ltd., La Crosse, recently became board certified in civil trial law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

    Rodney L. Cubbie, Marquette 1981, and Pamela Pepper, Cornell 1989, have formed Cubbie & Pepper Ltd. at 735 N. Water St., Suite 536, Milwaukee. The law firm is engaged in criminal defense and civil litigation, with a focus on federal practice. Both counsel previously were employed at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Milwaukee, and Rodney Cubbie was most recently a partner at Foley & Lardner in Milwaukee.

    William F. Dolson, U.W. 1956, 1962, was awarded the 1998 Distinguished Service Award by the President of the University of Louisville, for service to the profession. He has been a professor of law at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville since 1959.

    Thomas M. Domer, U.W. 1983, was re-elected as chair of the Dominican High School (Whitefish Bay) Board of Directors. Domer practices with Schneidman, Myers, Dowling & Blumenfield, Milwaukee, and is a 1967 graduate of Dominican. Dominican is a Catholic college-preparatory school under the sponsorship of the Sinsinawa Dominican sisters.

    Two associate attorneys have joined Foley & Lardner's Madison office: Anat Hakim, Harvard 1993, is a member of the intellectual property litigation practice group; and Teresa Y. Lau, Boalt Hall 1995, practices in the business law department. Hakim previously practiced with Latham & Watkins in New York and Washington, D.C., focusing on commercial litigation involving securities, fraud, employment law, trademark and general commercial matters. Lau is formerly of Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, where she practiced securities law.

    Janine Geske, Marquette 1975, has resigned from the Wisconsin Supreme Court and will join the Marquette University Law School faculty as a professor of law to create a pro se small claims litigant mediation clinic in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court and to teach appellate advocacy. She also will teach in the Marquette University graduate program in dispute resolution. Geske, a member of the faculty of the National Judicial College in Reno, Nev., will continue to lecture nationally to judges' and lawyers' groups. She also will open her own practice providing alternative dispute resolution and litigation support consultation.

    In May, Geske received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Marquette University and the 1998 Headliner Award from the Milwaukee Press Club. She recently delivered the Robert Houghwout Jackson lecture at the National Judicial College and the Gene Posner Pro Bono lecture at Marquette University Law School.

    John P. Goggin, U.W. 1971, has joined Hinshaw & Culbertson's office as a partner. A 26-year veteran litigator, Goggin will concentrate in matters involving medical negligence.

    John Hawley, U.W. 1982 cum laude, has been named president-elect of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. Hawley, president of the Random Lake Board of Education, is the first school board member to hold this position. He is an attorney with the Random Lake law firm Darrow, Dietrich & Hawley S.C.

    Paul W. Henke Jr., Marquette 1969, of Moen, Sheehan, Meyer Ltd., La Crosse, has been admitted to membership in the Commercial Law League of America. The Commercial Law League, founded in 1895, is North America's premier organization of bankruptcy and commercial law professionals. The CLLA and its members are regularly invited to provide expert testimony before Congressional committees and other administrative agencies on behalf of the fair and equitable administration of bankruptcy and other commercial laws.

    The Kenosha County Bar Association recently elected new officers: president - Philip E. Marry, Kenosha; president-elect - Glenn J. Blise, Racine; secretary - J. Eric Olson, Kenosha; and treasurer - S. Michael Wilk, Kenosha.

    Thomas F. Kissinger, George Washington 1988, general counsel and secretary of The Marcus Corporation, has been accepted into the Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys (AHIA). AHIA is a national association of attorneys who have demonstrated substantial experience and personal involvement with businesses in the hotel, travel, meetings, conventions, expositions, tourism, gaming, and restaurant industries.

    Thomas H. Kister, Marquette 1998, has joined Cook & Franke S.C., Milwaukee, practicing in real estate, corporate law, and bankruptcy.

    Thomas Kwiatkowski, Marquette 1979, has joined DeMark, Kolbe & Brodek S.C., Racine, as an associate practicing in employment law. He formerly worked as an attorney and senior labor relations specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Employers Relations, Division of Collective Bargaining, where he negotiated labor agreements, represented the state in labor arbitrations, and developed and presented training programs for supervisors and managers.

    The La Crosse County Bar Association has elected new officers: president - Charles E. Hanson; president-elect - Maureen L. Kinney; and secretary/treasurer - Jeremy P. Zielke; all of La Crosse.

    Brian Lucareli, Marquette 1989, has been promoted to senior vice president at Johnson Trust Company, Racine. Lucareli is responsible for managing the delivery of trust and investment management services, as well as new business for the Racine and Kenosha market places.

    Mark A. Schulz, U.W. 1979, formerly a shareholder with Hunsader & Schulz S.C., has become a shareholder in Meier, Wickhem, Lyons & Schultz S.C., Janesville. Karl Southworth, John Marshall 1975, formerly a shareholder in Meier, Wickhem, Southworth & Lyons S.C., has left the full-time practice of law to become an administrator at Blackhawk Technical College. He will remain of counsel to Meier, Wickhem, Lyons & Schulz S.C. Theodore V. Lyons Jr., U.W. 1978, recently became board certified in civil trial law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

    Ross L. Kodner, Marquette 1986, president of MicroLaw Inc., Milwaukee, was appointed chair of the Computer & Technology Division of the ABA Law Practice Management Section. He also was reappointed to the ABA Techshow Board as a vice chair where he also will serve as the pagemaster of the event's Web site, and also to the LPM Section's Solo/Small Firm Division board. He also was the guest moderator of the Corel Legal Technology Summit '98 held in Toronto, Ontario. Jeffery S. Krause, Marquette 1996, has joined MicroLaw Inc. as a legal technology consultant. He formerly practiced law with Terschan, Steinle & Ness, Milwaukee. MicroLaw Inc. recently expanded its legal technology consulting services to Canada.

    David E. Hickethier, Hamline 1995, and Craig M. Salzer, Marquette 1998, have become associates of Moertl, Wilkins & Campbell S.C., Milwaukee.

    Gregory W. Lyons, Marquette 1988, has been named a shareholder in O'Neil, Cannon & Hollman S.C., Milwaukee. He practices in commercial litigation, products liability, and appellate practice. Todd M. Goodwin, Marquette 1998, has joined the firm as an associate concentrating in corporate and business transactions.

    The Milwaukee law firm of O'Neil, Cannon & Hollman S.C. is marking its 25th anniversary. The firm is comprised of 21 attorneys including Patrick J. O'Neil, Dennis W. Hollman, and F. Joseph Schlosser, all of whom were members of the firm's original founding group. Since its founding in 1973, the law firm has maintained its offices in downtown Milwaukee in Suite 1400 of the Bank One Plaza. In 1987 the firm adopted its present name of O'Neil, Cannon & Hollman S.C. The firm conducts a full-service legal practice with primary focuses on business law and civil litigation.

    Steven R. Penn, DePaul 1990, has formed a partnership with attorney Frank E. Stachyra, Stachyra & Penn, at 111 W. Washington St., Suite 1440, Chicago, Ill. Both attorneys previously worked for the Cascino Vaughan Law Offices in Chicago and Milwaukee. The new practice concentrates in asbestos and occupational exposures and products liability, medical malpractice, and estate matters.

    Coral D. Pleas, Marquette 1993, has joined the law firm of Schulz & Duffey S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate practicing in personal injury, insurance defense, worker's compensation, and general civil litigation.

    Harvey W. Pogoriler, Minnesota 1977, was honored as a winner in Northwestern Mutual Life's Employee Community Service program for his volunteer work for the Center for Deaf-Blind Persons. For his achievement, he received a $10,000 check from the Northwestern Mutual Life Foundation, which he gave to the Center for Deaf-Blind Persons.

    David G. Pribyl, John Marshall 1988, has joined Hinshaw & Culbertson's Waukegan, Ill., office. He practices in medical and hospital malpractice defense.

    Joseph A. Rice, Marquette 1985, has been elected chair of the Milwaukee Area Technical College Board of Directors. Rice, vice president of the public relations firm of Zigman Joseph Stephenson, was first appointed to the MATC board in 1994 and was reappointed in 1996. He also is serving his third term as a member of the Whitefish Bay Village Board, where he currently chairs the Public Safety Committee. In addition, Rice chairs the Legislative Committee of the Wisconsin Technical College Boards Association.

    The Rock County Bar Association has elected new officers: president - Lynn M. Galbraith-Wilson, Beloit; president-elect - Paul C. Merkle Jr., Janesville; secretary - Kimberly M. Vele, Evansville; and treasurer - David J. O'Leary, Janesville.

    Michael T. Savaglio, John Marshall 1990, has joined Michael F. Hupy & Associates S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate practicing in personal injury law. He also is licensed in Illinois.

    Paul A. Sturgul, U.W. 1973, has been named chair of the Elder Rights Committee of the ABA Individual Rights and Responsibilities Section. Sturgul is a Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and vice president of the National Elder Law Foundation. He focuses his practice in elder law and maintains offices in Hurley and Woodruff.

    Jason T. Studinski, U.W. 1998, has joined Rohde, Dales, Melzer, Te Winkle & Gass, Sheboygan, as an associate practicing in litigation and employment law. The firm has offices in Sheboygan and Shebogyan Falls.

    Laura M. Sutherland, U.W. 1989, has joined the law firm Boardman, Suhr, Curry & Field LLP, Madison, practicing in environmental, municipal, and open records law, and general litigation. She previously served as a Wisconsin assistant attorney general from 1990-98, as the public intervenor on the proposed Crandon Mine, and as the attorney general's designee on the Wisconsin Public Records Board. She also cochaired the State Bar committee on public records and open meetings.

    Heather (Isaacson) Thenell, U.W. 1993, recently joined Aid Association for Lutherans as the estate protection and retirement planning attorney for the company's advanced financial services team in its Appleton office. She formerly was in private practice in Appleton concentrating in estate planning.

    Sandra J. Wagner, U.W. 1998, has joined the Sturgeon Bay firm of Brooks & Martel S.C. as an associate working in all areas of general practice.

    Tarena W. Franklin, U.W. 1998, practicing in family and employment discrimination matters, and Shenetta Richardson, U.W. 1998, practicing in criminal and real estate transactions, have joined the Milwaukee general practice law office of Hazel J. Washington S.C.

    The Winnebago County Bar Association has elected new officers: president - Teresa S. Basiliere, Oshkosh; president-elect - Grant E. Birtch, Neenah; and secretary/treasurer - Brenda Marks, Menasha.

    The Wisconsin Department of Justice has hired nine new assistant attorneys general: Jennifer Nashold, U.W. 1993, Sandra Tarver, U.W. 1990, and Diane Welsh, American 1998, will work in the Criminal Appeals Unit; Bill Hanrahan, Hamline 1988, and Amy Smith, U.W. 1989, will work as sex predator prosecutors in the Criminal Litigation, Antitrust and Consumer Protection Unit; Stan Davis, George Washington 1998, Anne Murphy, Minnesota 1992, and Jody Schmelzer, Valparaiso 1997, will work in the Civil Litigation Unit; and Bill Sosnay, Marquette 1972, will work in the Employment Litigation Unit.
