Martin P. Gagne, Boston 1981, and Julie A.
O'Halloran, Marquette 1989, have formed Gagne &
O'Halloran LLC, 735 N. Water St., Suite 610, Milwaukee. The
firm will practice family law including divorce, maintenance, division
of assets, child support, child custody and placement, interstate
custody disputes, paternity, mediation, arbitration, and collaborative
divorce. Gagne previously was with Hansen, Gagne & Foley, and
O'Halloran was with Margolis & Cassidy.
Lowell E. Sweet, U.W. 1955, formerly of Sweet &
Reddy S.C., will practice as The Law Office of Lowell E. Sweet
S.C., continuing at 114 N. Church St., Elkhorn, practicing in
business and corporate law, condominium and real estate law, estate
planning, probate and trusts, and taxes.
Palmer & Finerty S.C., Waukesha, and von
Briesen, Purtell & Roper S.C., Milwaukee, have allied to establish
an Internet legal resource at www.laborlogic.com. von Briesen, Purtell
& Roper S.C. will contribute information on health care, technology,
immigration, and Indian law to the site. Palmer & Finerty S.C.
established the site and provide information on OSHA and EEO compliance,
litigation, defense, collective bargaining, hiring, and executive
employment contracts.

Haley
|
J. Thomas Haley, U.W. 1974, has been certified as a
civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is a
shareholder in Haley Palmersheim S.C., Madison.
Bradley C. Thorsen, Minnesota 1974, and
Daniel R. Tyson, Marquette 1978, received annual Pro
Bono Publico awards from the Hennepin County Bar Association for
distinguished service to the community.
Thorsen, a sole practitioner, received
the distinguished service award. He served as student director of Legal
Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners while in law school. In the Volunteer
Lawyers Network for 25 years, he has served on the board of directors,
helped in fundraising and volunteer recruitment, and worked as a
volunteer attorney educating, advising, and representing low-income
individuals.
Tyson, who practices real property law
with Openheimer, Wolff & Donnelly, received the excellence by a
private sector attorney award. He has chaired the board of directors of
Volunteer Lawyers Network and led efforts to combat predatory real
estate schemes in Hennepin County.
Debra L. Holewinski, U.W. 1997, has earned a
Certified Public Accountant license. Holewinski is with Schober &
Ulatowski S.C., Green Bay, practicing in general business and corporate
law, mergers and acquisitions, and estate planning.
Theresa L. Roetter, Marquette 1993, has been
admitted to the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. Roetter is with
Stafford Rosenbaum LLP, Madison, practicing in municipal and children's
law including termination of parental rights, adoption, guardianships,
and guardian ad litem representation.
Appointments, Elections
Daniel T. Dennehy, Marquette 1979, has been
appointed a Milwaukee civil court commissioner by Hon. Timothy G. Dugan.
Dennehy is a senior shareholder of von Briesen, Purtell & Roper
S.C., Milwaukee, advising health care clients on employment, personnel,
and labor.
David G. Miron, Marquette 1983, was appointed
Marinette County circuit court judge, Branch I, to fill the vacancy
created by the retirement of the Hon. Charles D. Heath. Miron previously
was the Marinette County district attorney and was in private practice
with Kopish, Miron & Boyle S.C., Marinette.

Diestelmeier

Mark S. Diestelmeier, Iowa 1991, has been appointed
recruiting shareholder with von Briesen, Purtell & Roper S.C.,
Milwaukee, and will develop and direct the firm's law school recruiting
program. Diestlelmeier advises health care clients on compliance,
confidentiality and privacy issues, and transactional matters. He has
represented providers and business clients in a broad range of
litigation and dispute resolution matters.
Paul M. Anderson, Marquette 1995, assistant director
of the National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School,
has been appointed editor of the Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport
(Society for the Study of Legal Aspects of Sport and Physical
Education).
Anderson recently finished writing Major
League Leases: An Overview of Major League Facility Leases and How They
are Negotiated (Front Office Publications 2001), with William S. Miller,
Marquette 1996, executive vice president/professional sports for the
Leib Group LLC, Mequon.
Robert E. Meldman, Marquette 1962, an international
tax attorney and shareholder in Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris
& Rieselbach S.C., Milwaukee, has been elected chair of the Taxation
Standing Committee of LAWASIA, an association of bar councils, law
associations, lawyers, law firms, and corporations principally from the
Asia Pacific region.
Bruce J. Rosen, U.W. 1971, a partner in Pellino,
Rosen, Mowris & Kirkhuff S.C., Madison, has been appointed to the
Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) special investigative panel by the
Wisconsin Supreme Court. Rosen, a criminal defense attorney, practices
in federal and state courts. Rosen previously was a staff attorney to
the Legal Services Center, the predecessor to the State Public
Defender's Office.
The special investigative panel was
created to help ensure the integrity of the OLR, which replaced the
Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility.
