P.J. Boylan, Marquette 1982, has been appointed
senior legal counsel for technology development, responsible for legal
and administrative matters regarding intellectual property and

the 17th annual High School Mock Trial Championships in Columbia, S.C.

Retirements
 Judge William Eich, U.W. 1963, retires from the
court Oct. 1 after 35 years of service, 26 as a judge. Eich served as
chief justice of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals from 1989-98, longer
than any other chief judge. |
Judge Edwin Dahlberg, U.W. 1949, has retired from
the bench after 41 years of service in Rock County.
Awards, Degrees, Honors
Judge Thomas H. Barland, U.W. 1956, received the award
of judicial excellence presented by the ABA judicial division National
Conference of State Trial Judges. He was recognized for his "outstanding
performance and achievement, exemplary conduct, excellence of character,
and extraordinary service to the bench, bar, and community."
Scott Hassett, Rutgers 1980, a shareholder at Lawton
& Cates S.C., Madison, has been named chair of the board of
directors of the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin.
