If you’re facing an unfamiliar practice area or have a novel question about an area in which you regularly practice, turn to the State Bar Lawyer-to-Lawyer Directory. Nearly 700 lawyers are listed in the 2008-2009 edition, which is included in the 2009 Wisconsin Lawyer Directory, beginning at page 633, and on WisBar at www.wisbar.org/lawyer2lawyer (you must be logged in).
Listed lawyers have volunteered to share their knowledge in particular areas of law with other lawyers – not the public – through free, brief telephone consultations. They are helping to create a network among attorneys that can lead to greater competence within the profession and better delivery of legal services to the public. The Lawyer-to-Lawyer Directory allows lawyers to readily identify other lawyers who not only have background and experience in specific areas of law but who also are willing to share their knowledge. The directory includes a topical listing, an out-of-state listing, and an alphabetical listing.
The directory is updated every two years. The next update will be this fall for publication in the January 2010 Wisconsin Lawyer Directory. If you’re already included in the directory, you’ll receive a letter asking for any changes to your listing. If you’d like to add your name to the directory, watch for a notice late this summer in the WisBar InsideTrack electronic newsletter.
