CLE Books updates Wisconsin Employment Law, Hiring and
Firing in Wisconsin, and Guide to Employment Discrimination
in Wisconsin
State Bar CLE Books has released its latest supplement to
Wisconsin Employment Law, a comprehensive and practical guide
widely used by Wisconsin attorneys and human
resources professionals alike. Wisconsin Employment
Law is recognized as the source for
valuable, practical, and timely information on this complex and crucial
practice area.
Although the guide primarily focuses on Wisconsin law, it also
discusses the effect
of federal law on Wisconsin employment. The book offers guidance on when
and whether
federal law preempts state law, and how to choose the appropriate forum.
On this and
all other topics, Wisconsin Employment Law takes an objective,
neutral, and balanced
approach, exploring both employer and employee perspectives and
addressing employee
claims and employer defenses.
Wisconsin Employment Law is organized by topic so readers
can quickly find a
complete discussion of any employment problem and the applicable law.
The book opens with
an overview of major state and federal employment laws. Major topics
covered include
hiring and firing, wages and hours, employee benefits, occupational
safety and health,
worker's compensation, and unemployment insurance. Intensely litigated
areas of employment
law, such as wrongful discharge, discrimination, and noncompetition
agreements, are
discussed in detail.
Originally published in 1994 and published in its third edition
in 2004, the
three volumes of Wisconsin Employment Law represent the combined
efforts of more than 25
attorney-authors from Wisconsin law firms and more than 50 employment
law experts
who reviewed the original book to ensure accuracy and balance. Walter F.
Kelly and Thomas
W. Scrivner served as the advisors on the original publication.
Wisconsin Employment Law reflects the most recent developments in
statutory and case law and is
supplemented regularly.
The set also is available through the State Bar CLE online
library (in
partnership with Loislaw). The online version includes hyperlinks
directly to the full text of
cases and statutes cited, saving hours of valuable time while enhancing
research and case preparation.
The three-volume set costs $199 for members and $250 for
nonmembers, plus tax
and shipping. Subscribers to the State Bar's automatic supplementation
service will
automatically receive the supplements to Wisconsin Employment
Law, Hiring and Firing in Wisconsin, and
Guide to Wisconsin Employment
Discrimination at a 10 percent discount.
Due to their popularity and demand, several chapters have been
released as
stand-alone publications. Also supplemented regularly, the 2008
supplements to
Hiring and Firing in Wisconsin and Guide to Wisconsin
Employment Discrimination
Law were released in March. For individuals who don't need the
in-depth treatment of all the topics covered in
Wisconsin Employment Law, these information-packed paperbacks may
be just the ticket.
Each one costs $45 for members and $60 for nonmembers.
