New Hires, Promotions, Partners
Marybeth Herbst-Flagstad, Marquette 2003, and Rachel Rabideau, Indiana-Bloomington 2002, have been promoted to senior counsel at Assurant Health, Milwaukee, a health insurance provider. Flagstad previously was counsel and associate counsel. Rabideau previously was associate counsel.
Timothy D. Edwards, Wayne State 1989, and Edward J. Lawton, U.W. 2007, have joined Axley Brynelson LLP, Madison. Edwards is a partner in the litigation practice group and focuses on employment law, business law, appellate litigation, and professional licensure disputes. Lawton is an associate in the business practice group and focuses on corporate finance and securities, business transactions, corporate governance, and taxation.
Mary Beth Collins, U.W. 2005, has joined the corporate and real estate practice groups in the Madison office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C. She previously worked for another firm in Madison.
Tara M. Fermanich, Marquette 2005, and Eric S. Johnson, U.W. 2007, have joined Curran, Hollenbeck & Orton S.C. Fermanich previously was assistant counsel for the Wisconsin Towns Association. Both attorneys will be engaged in general practice at the firm's two locations, in Mauston and Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton. The new Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton office, at 140 E. Adams St., Lake Delton, is staffed full-time by Jay Englund, Marquette 2004.
Kathleen M. Daly, William Mitchell 2001, has joined the litigation and dispute resolution practice area of Minneapolis-based Best & Flanagan LLP, focusing on commercial litigation. She previously was with Rider Bennett LLP, Minneapolis.
Lawrence J. Glusman, U.W. 1995, has been named a shareholder at Friebert, Finerty & St. John S.C., Milwaukee, and continues to focus on commercial lending, real estate, and creditors' rights.
M. Andrew Skwierawski, U.W. 2007, and Joseph M. Peltz, Marquette 2007, have joined the firm as associates. Skwierawski focuses on business litigation and computer law. Peltz focuses on business litigation and divorce law.

He was honored for his work to establish the Richland County Assistance to Kin of Mentally Ill Persons program.

The Hon. Maxine A. White, Marquette 1985, received the Alumni Service to the Community Award from Marquette University in April. White, who serves on the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, was honored for her work in the Wisconsin judiciary and in the National Association of Women Judges.

James Casey, Dayton 1988, presented the work program and demonstration project of the University-Industry Demonstration Partnership at the 2007 Legal Framework for e-Research Conference in Queensland, Australia.
Thomas Domer, U.W. 1983, presented "Worker's Compensation Ethics" at the American Association for Justice Convention in Chicago in July and also spoke at Professional Education Systems' Worker's Compensation conference in Las Vegas in February. He represents injured workers at Domer Law S.C., Milwaukee, and teaches at Marquette Law School.
Josh Johanningmeier, Iowa 1999, and Douglas M. Poland, Loyola-Chicago 1994, both with the Madison office of Godfrey & Kahn S.C., presented "Managing Product Liability Risk in the U.S. Marketplace" at the Great Lakes Governors' Forum on Chinese Trade and Investment in Chicago in May.
The Hon. Charles B. Schudson, U.W. 1974, presented the keynote address "Loves Me, Loves Me Knot - the History, Law and Literature of Marriage" at the 70th annual conference of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges in San Francisco in July.
Robert Zeinemann, Marquette 2006, has authored an article in the Spring 2007 issue of The Urban Lawyer, a national quarterly journal on state and local government law published by the ABA. The article is a major study of the history of municipal incorporation annexation law in Wisconsin.
