    Jennifer Hansen, Marquette 1995, and Jack Jakubiak, Marquette 1996, have joined the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Regional Counsel, Milwaukee. Hansen, formerly with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Rochester, Minn., focuses on medical malpractice claims and employment law. Jakubiak, previously serving with the U.S. Army, focuses on employment law and subrogation matters. Michael Newman, Minnesota 1990, has returned to the office as assistant regional counsel after a one-year mobilization with the Army. Jeffrey Hart, Seattle 1992, formerly acting assistant regional counsel and now a trial defense attorney, has been mobilized by the Army.

    Jamie Wiemer, Minnesota 2006 magna cum laude, has joined Alex Flynn and Rebecca Lawnicki at Alex Flynn & Associates S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate trial attorney. The general practice law firm emphasizes civil and criminal litigation in federal and state courts.

    Appointments, Elections

    Four Wisconsin Court of Appeals judges have been selected to serve on the Government Accountability Board's candidate committee, which will nominate individuals to serve on the board. Committee members are the Hon. Patricia S. Curley, Marquette 1973, District I; the Hon. Neal P. Nettesheim, Marquette 1966, District II; the Hon. Gregory A. Peterson, U.W. 1973, District III; and the Hon. Margaret J. Vergeront, U.W. 1975, District IV. The judges' names were picked from a hat by Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson. The board replaces the current State Elections and State Ethics boards and will administer the state's election, campaign finance, ethics, and lobbying laws.

    Michael P. Maxwell, Marquette 2001, has been elected vice chair of the Landmark Credit Union board. He is managing partner of Maxwell Jones LLP, Milwaukee.

    Dan Miske, DePaul 1985, has been elected president of Petrie & Stocking S.C., Milwaukee. He focuses on condominium law.

    John Pray, U.W. 1986, has been appointed to the Board of Bar Examiners by the Wisconsin Supreme Court. He is a clinical associate professor at the U.W. Law School's Remington Center.

    The Richland County Bar Association has elected the following officers: president - Dominic J. Anderson; and secretary/treasurer - James J. Robb, both of Richland Center.

    The Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association has elected the following officers: president - Carmen M. Ortiz-Babilonia; president-elect - Kristela L. Cervera; secretary - Carlos A. Ortiz; and treasurer - David A. Westrup, all of Milwaukee.

    The Wisconsin Supreme Court has appointed three circuit court judges to serve as chief judges for their respective judicial administrative districts. In the Fourth Judicial District, the Hon. Darryl W. Deets, Illinois 1976, Manitowoc County, succeeds the Hon. L. Edward Stengel. In the Fifth Judicial District, the Hon. C. William Foust, U.W. 1978, Dane County, succeeds the Hon. Michael N. Nowakowski. In the Seventh Judicial District, the Hon. William D. Dyke, U.W. 1960, Iowa County, succeeds the Hon. Michael Rosborough. The court also reappointed two chief judges, the Hon. Kitty K. Brennan, U.W. 1977, Milwaukee County, and the Hon. Benjamin D. Proctor, U.W. 1971, Eau Claire County.

    The Hon. Annette Ziegler, Marquette 1989, has been elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She is a Washington County circuit court judge.
