- 69 percent respondents disagreed that the current system of campaign
financing for judicial elections is acceptable.
- 59 percent agreed that judges are not paid enough.
- 52 percent felt that Wisconsin should mandate the use of mandatory
interrogatories and other mandatory disclosures.
- 65 percent thought Wisconsin should allow electronic filing of all
documents, including summonses and complaints.
- 54 percent agreed that judges do not understand the problems lawyers
face in the discovery process.
- 57 percent disagreed that lawyers should not be constrained in
discussing civil cases with the press if their clients consent.
- 53 percent said too many lawyers are in practice today for the
amount of work to be done.
- 63 percent disagreed that the attorney discipline process will
improve due to replacement of the Board of Attorneys Professional
Responsibility with the new Office of Lawyer Regulation.
Of those respondents who had an opinion, 57 percent did not
believe the Bar should undertake a study to determine to what extent
racial and ethnic bias exist in the court system and to measure public
perception of such bias. But 26 percent of all respondents either had no
opinion or gave no response.
