    Holborn Carl D. Holborn, U.W. 1996 with honors, has joined the Milwaukee law firm of O'Neil, Cannon & Hollman S.C. as an associate concentrating in estate planning and probate law. While attending law school, he completed a judicial internship with the Hon. John L. Coffey, U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit. He was also a note and comment editor for the Wisconsin Law Review. Holborn previously was associated with the Kenosha law firm of Guttormsen, Hartley & Guttormsen.

    Randall E. Bennett, U.W. 1988, has joined American Medical Security Inc. (AMS) as assistant general counsel. AMS is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Medical Security Group Inc. Bennett will practice in transactional work, lease/sublease contracts, software license and maintenance agreements, sales office and agency contracts, and employment-related matters. He previously was the president of Edgar Enterprises, a technology company.

    Shirin Cabraal, U.W. 1981, of Legal Action of Wisconsin Inc., was honored by the Walkers Point Youth and Family Center with a Community Service Award for her dedicated work on behalf of Milwaukee County's children and teen parents. Cabraal practices public benefits/health law and was a participant on the statewide managed care advisory committee, monitoring the expansion of managed care to medical assistance recipients statewide. She received a law degree from the University of Sri Lanka and taught on the faculty for two years before coming to the United States on a Fulbright Scholarship for graduate studies.

    The Calument County Bar Association recently elected these officers: president - Mark S. Des Rochers, Saint Nazianz; president-elect - Kim M. Reitbrock, Chilton; and secretary/treasurer - Kenneth R. Kratz, Chilton.

    Lee F. Calvey, Marquette 1968, and Faye L. Calvey, Marquette 1983, have established Calvey Law Offices S.C., at 8618 Highway 51 North, P.O. Box 1146, Minocqua. Lee Calvey, formerly of Calvey, Lara & Shapiro S.C., Milwaukee, will remain of counsel to that firm. He will continue to practice family law exclusively. Faye Calvey, formerly of O'Neil, Cannon & Hollman S.C., Milwaukee, will continue to practice in estate planning, probate, real estate, and related matters.

    Ellen J. (Ziemann) Chestnutt, U.W. 1952, recently received the 1998 Portia Award presented by the Women Lawyers Association of the 4th Judicial District.

    The Chippewa County Bar Association recently elected these officers: president - Lucie A. Usher; and secretary/treasurer - Bryan C. Royce; both of Chippewa Falls.

    Pedro A. Colón, U.W. 1994, has been elected to the State Assembly for the 8th District. He continues to practice law at Baxter, O'Meara & Samuelsen S.C., Milwaukee, while serving as state representative.

    James J. Connolly, John Marshall 1986, recently became a shareholder in Jude, Boyd, Connolly & Simanek S.C., Racine. Connolly concentrates in personal injury and insurance defense litigation.

    Robert C. Daly, Marquette 1972, has been named a partner in Schober & Schober S.C., resident in the firm's Oconomowoc office. He practices primarily in real estate, family law, and estate planning, including Title 19 issues, wills, advance medical directives, financial powers of attorney, living trusts, and guardianships.

    Matthew Damon, U.W. 1984, has been elected to the board of directors and as president of Halleland Lewis Nilan Sipkins & Johnson, Minneapolis, Minn. He is a shareholder who practices labor and employment law, representing both private and public sector management in claim prevention and defense. As president of the firm, Damon will oversee long-term strategic planning and business development, and day-to-day firm operations.

    Keith B. Daniels Jr., U.W. 1988, has joined Blatt, Hammesfahr & Eaton, Chicago, Ill., as an associate. He heads the firm's professional indemnity practice.

    Davis & Kuelthau S.C.'s Madison office has relocated to a new building on Capitol Square at Ten East Doty, Suite 600, Madison. The firm has offices in Milwaukee, Madison, Sheboygan, and Green Bay.

    Paul A. Dirkse, U.W. 1994, has been appointed assistant corporation counsel for Marathon County. His primary responsibilities will include paternities, child support and zoning enforcement, and collections. He was formerly in private practice with the Fredel Law Firm S.C. in Mosinee.

    The Douglas County Bar Association recently elected these officers: president - Boad S. Swanson; president-elect - Kyle H. Torvinen; and secretary/treasurer - Paul W. Baxter, all of Superior.

    Christine S. Eisenmann, Marquette 1993, formerly of the Stroik Law Office, West Bend, has opened the Eisenmann Law Office at 120 N. Main St., West Bend. Her firm will continue to concentrate on family law and residential real estate.

    Charles P. Fischbach, U.W. 1967, recently was appointed by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley to serve on the Chicago Workforce Board. The board allocates nearly $50 million annually in federal job training funds to improve education, training, and employment services for individuals and businesses in Chicago. Fishbach also maintains an arbitration practice.

    James W. Flory, Minnesota 1990, formerly with the Misfeldt Law Office, has joined Wiley, Colbert, Norseng, Cray and Herrell S.C., at its Eau Claire office. He practices in business and real estate law, estate planning and probate, and general civil litigation.

    The Fond du Lac County Bar Association recently elected these officers: president - Kathryn M. Bullon; president-elect - David J. Colwin; secretary - Sam E. Kaufman; and treasurer - Kathryn M. Bullon; all of Fond du Lac.

    Mark M. Grapentine, U.W. 1997, has been named a policy advisor to Gov. Tommy Thompson. Issue areas include corrections, courts, justice, veterans affairs, military affairs, the Department of Employment Relations, and the Ethics Board. Previously he was a legislative assistant for State Rep. Scott Walker (R-Wauwatosa).

    The Green County Bar Association recently elected these officers: president - Gary L. Luhman, Monroe; president-elect - Dan D. Gartzke, New Glarus; and secretary/treasurer - Todd W. Schluesche, Monroe.

    Thomas G. Halloran, U.W. 1977, has joined The Schroeder Group S.C., Attorneys at Law as a shareholder, focusing in commercial litigation and employment law.

    Hanft Fride Law Firm, Duluth, Minn., as part of a year-long celebration commemorating 100 years of service, will be giving away 100 charitable gifts per month throughout 1999. Each month the firm will select a charity or other deserving organization to receive the gifts, and 12 separate organizations will be represented throughout the year. In January, for example, the Duluth Community Health Center received 100 tetanus shots for area children. The firm, located in US Bank Place, provides a full range of transactional and litigation services for businesses and individuals.

    John Hawley, U.W. 1982 cum laude, has been elected president of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards. Hawley, the president of the Random Lake Board of Education, works with the Random Lake law firm Darrow, Dietrich & Hawley S.C.

    Carl D. Holborn, U.W. 1996 with honors, has joined the Milwaukee law firm of O'Neil, Cannon & Hollman S.C. as an associate concentrating in estate planning and probate law.     David R. Gault, Drake 1984, Dane County assistant corporation counsel, and Todd Liebman, U.W. 1990, Sauk County corporation counsel, both were recently promoted to the rank of major in the Judge Advocate General's Corp, U.W. Army Reserves. They are assigned to the 214th Legal Services Organization, Team 3, located in Madison.

    John D. Kelly, Minnesota 1974, and Richard R. Burns, Michigan 1971, from the Hanft Fride Law Firm, Duluth, Minn., were named to the 1999-2000 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Kelly heads the firm's litigation section and was recognized particularly for his work involving legal malpractice. Burns is general counsel for several small- and medium-sized businesses, and was recognized under trust and estate law.

    Adam Chase Korbitz, U.W. 1993, has become director of government relations for Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Inc., where he will serve as the agency's in-house lobbyist.

    The La Crosse Area Young Lawyers Association recently elected these officers: president - Kara M. Burgos; vice president - Brian G. Weber; and treasurer - Joseph G. Veenstra, all of La Crosse.

    The Legal Association for Women recently elected these officers: president - Malina Piontek Fischer; president-elect - Jennifer Scott Mirus; secretary - Elise Clancy Ruoho; and treasurer - Teresa A. Mueller, all of Madison.

    Patricia J. Meunier, Marquette 1992, now practices under the name Patricia J. Lloyd after her recent marriage. She continues her employment law and civil rights practice at Kotin, Crabtree & Strong LLP, in Boston, Mass.

    Michael G. Dombrowski, University of Pittsburgh 1979, and Peter J. Henningsen, U.W. 1986, recently were named senior counsel with M&I Data Services, a division of Marshall & Illsley Corp., Brown Deer. Both previously were senior attorneys with the Firstar Corp. Law Department.

    Alison J. Mehlman, U.W. 1996, has been named legal coordinator of the HIV/AIDS Law Consortium of Western Massachusetts.

    Lynn Morrissey, U.W. 1995, has opened Morrissey Law Office at 1051 Fond du Lac Ave., Kewaskum. The general practice firm emphasizes all areas of family law, mediation, estate planning, and social security disability.

    Thomas E. Mountin, Loyola University of Chicago 1978, has joined the downtown Milwaukee law firm of Miller, Simon, McGinn & Clark S.C. as a shareholder. He practices in state and federal taxation and municipal and corporate finance. The firm also will be included in the Spring 1999 Bond Buyer's Municipal Marketplace. This recognition qualifies the firm as nationally recognized bond counsel and allows it to render the sole approving legal opinion on municipal bond transactions.

    C. Gordon Paulson, U.W. 1980, has joined Rodd, Mouw, Saari & Krueger S.C., Rhinelander, as a shareholder. Andrew P. Smith, U.W. 1991, also has become a shareholder, and Melanie Parks Alberts, Oklahoma City University School of Law 1982, has become associated with the firm. The firm has changed its name to Mouw, Saari, Krueger, Paulson & Smith S.C.

    Michael P. Murphy, U.W. 1996, has joined the Kasieta Legal Group LLC, Madison, practicing in civil trial work, including personal injury, employment law, worker's compensation, and product liability.

    John E. Murray, Iowa 1991, has joined Davis & Kuelthau S.C., Milwaukee, as an attorney in the employment litigation section. He formerly was an associate at Krukowski & Costello S.C.

    Thomas R. Napierala, U.W. 1990, has formed Napierala Law Offices LLC at 227 E. Fairmount Ave., Whitefish Bay. The practice will emphasize family law, consumer bankruptcy, and real estate.

    Keith Napolitano, Cornell 1992, has joined the Lincoln, Neb., Martin Luther Home Society senior management team as assistant to the president for administration. He will oversee implementation of the society's five-year strategic plan to focus upon innovative solutions to requests for services made by clients with developmental disabilities. Napolitano formerly served as development attorney and planned giving counselor for Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services Inc., Watertown, Wis.

    Stuart R. Rottier, Marquette 1995, has become a shareholder in Crooks, Low & Connell S.C. in the firm's Wausau office. The firm's name has been changed to Crooks, Low, Connell & Rottier S.C. Rottier practices in civil and criminal litigation, family law, adoption, bankruptcy, and general practice.

    Diana R. Schira, Marquette 1989, has opened Shira Law Firm S.C. at 1116 Western Ave., Mosinee. Her practice emphasizes litigation, personal injury, and family law, along with real estate, estate planning, and general practice.

    Richard B. Schoenbohm, Indiana University - Bloomington 1980, has been admitted as a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. He practices adoption law at Schoenbohm & Schoenbohm S.C., Appleton.

    The Schroeder Group S.C., Attorneys at Law, a Waukesha-based business law firm, has relocated its offices to the Crossroads Corporate Center, 20800 Swenson Dr., Suite 475, Waukesha.     Jason T. Studinski, U.W. 1998, has formed Studinski Legal Group LLC in Madison. The firm practices primarily plaintiff's employment, civil rights, and personal injury law.

    Mark Swiecichowski, Marquette 1996, has joined the corporate tax department of Robson Rhodes Chartered Accountants in Cambridge, England. He will be advising businesses in corporate and capital gains tax, and the tax implications and opportunities of the introduction of the Euro.

    J.D. Thorne, DePaul 1973, has established his own law office, Employment Law Managers, at Suite 1440, 735 N. Water St., Milwaukee. A member of the CCH National Panel of Labor Law Experts, he will continue to focus on representing management in labor relations and employment law matters.

    The Tri-County Bar Association (Buffalo, Jackson, Pepin, Trempealeau) has elected these officers: president - Robert A. Olsher, Black River Falls; vice president - Bruce J. Kostner, Arcadia; secretary - Mark R. Franklin, Independence; and treasurer - Lawrence J. Broeren, Mondovi.

    Jay A. Urban, Marquette 1992, an attorney with Techmeier & Van Grunsven S.C., Milwaukee, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee Inc. The Volunteer Center is a nonprofit organization that promotes, supports, and increases effective volunteerism in greater Milwaukee by providing leadership and resources to volunteers and supporting effective management of volunteer services as the central clearinghouse of voluntarism in the community.
