    Herbert H. Fisher, U.W. 1952, recently spoke on behalf of the National Association of Housing Cooperatives (NAHC) at a White House breakfast sponsored by the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, in Washington D.C., in celebration of October as co-op month. NAHC is a 49-year-old national trade association of housing cooperatives and professionals who service them.

    Awards, Degrees, Honors

    Alfred M. Boll, U.W. 1993, was admitted to practice law in the Australian State of New South Wales in July 1999, and has joined the Law Society of that state as a non-practicing member. Boll is the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross for Australia and New Zealand.

    EbertJulianna Ebert, Marquette 1981, a partner in Quarles & Brady LLP's Milwaukee office, has been awarded the National Association of Bond Lawyers' (NABL) Bernard P. Friel Medal for distinguished service in public finance, the association's highest honor. Ebert was awarded the medal, named after the association's first president, for her work representing NABL with the ABA Task Force on Lawyers' Political Contributions.

    The following Michael Best & Friedrich LLP attorneys were recognized in a recent issue of Milwaukee Magazine featuring the city's top 175 attorneys: John A. Busch, Duke 1976, business litigation/corporate counseling; Richard R. Canter, Hofstra 1976, health law; Joshua L. Gimbel, U.W. 1987, listed as a "rising star;" F. William Haberman, Harvard 1965, trusts and estates; Eric E. Hobbs, Cornell 1985, labor/employment discrimination; Raymond R. Krueger, U.W. 1972, environmental; Robert A. Schnur, Harvard 1963, tax law; Robyn S. Shapiro, Harvard 1977, health law; Robert A. Teper, Marquette 1959, real estate.

    Richard Z. Kabaker, University of Michigan 1959, a partner in the Madison office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, was recently named as a "Class of '99 Honoree" by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Honorees are selected for their demonstrated commitment to professional excellence, civic leadership, and community service. Kabaker practices in estate planning, estate administration, trusts, and marital property.

    Mergers, Relocations,
    New Associations

    Gabert, Williams & Farb has relocated to 2711 N. Mason St., Suite B, Appleton. The firm concentrates in general insurance defense including casualty, fire, product liability, surety, life, and subrogation.

    Stephen O. Hart, Florida 1969, and Kristen E. Falk, Golden Gate 1986, of Edgerton and Janesville, respectively, have merged their practices with attorney Karl E. Huebner, Jefferson. The firm will be known as Hart, Falk & Huebner and will continue to practice at the three locations.

    William D. Mansell, U.W. 1980, has opened Mansell Law Office S.C. at 415 Division St., Wausau. The practice focuses on plaintiff personal injury and criminal defense. Mansell previously was with Jerome A. Maeder S.C. He is a past president of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

    Joseph J. Shutkin, U.W. 1952, has returned to Wisconsin after practicing law in Israel for 12 years.

    Pro Bono, Public Service

    The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) recently contributed $4,000 to support the Racine Family Law Office of Legal Action of Wisconsin Inc. to aid in its services to Racine County low-income individuals. Legal action provides free civil legal service to low-income and elderly people.
