    Comment

    Simply put, I am running for YLD president-elect because I believe in young lawyers and contributions to the practice of law and public service. This simple statement may sound like "lofty" jargon. As a newly graduated lawyer with very few contacts in the legal profession, I would have agreed. However, four years later and after signing the YLD committee interest form, I have participated in a dynamic process where young lawyers transform brainstormed ideas into concrete projects benefiting young lawyers and the public. I am proud of this process and the YLD's accomplishments. These accomplishments include:

    • a videotape for counseling children in CHIPS actions;

    • moderate-cost CLE programs throughout the year;

    • job seeking strategy workshops;

    • a survival guide for young lawyers;

    • a lawyers guide to "hot issues" in consumer law;

    • representation of young lawyers' interests before the State Bar; and

    • a Law Day guide of community projects that local bar organizations can implement to increase the public's understanding of and trust in the legal profession.

    To gain your vote, I am not going to make fancy and unrealistic promises to you. However, if elected, I am committed to these goals:

    • broader participation by young lawyers in the YLD at all levels;

    • continuing to represent young lawyers' interests on issues impacting upon all YLD members;

    • increasing the number of projects benefiting young lawyers and the public.

    I hope that I will get your vote and that together we can accomplish great things with the YLD.
