Comment

Why should you vote for me for treasurer? Because I will work very hard for you. If you attend a future Board of Governors meeting I want you to think, "I am happy he is one of our state officers."

I have served the Board of Governors from 1988 through 1992. Despite the commute from Hudson, I never missed a meeting. In 1993-94 I served the Finance Committee. I am aware of the issues that confront the treasurer.

Through the years, as a State Bar representative, I have attended many local bar association meetings. I have heard your concerns. If I could change anything in the future course of the State Bar of Wisconsin it would be to convince you, the lawyer, that you can and should be involved in your state association. The association should help you network. Your professional group should help plan your office. At times when you consider expansion, associates or retirement, the association should be practical and informative. It should always be your safe harbor.

Too often the State Bar appears to be the Emerald City. Lawyers are afraid to come forward. They shouldn't be. When one looks "behind the curtain" there are dozens of hard-working, concerned lawyers trying to do their best, one project at a time.
