    Patrick J. Anderson, Marquette 1991, an attorney with Brennan, Steil, Basting & MacDougall S.C., Janesville, has been appointed as legal counsel for the Wisconsin State Jaycees Inc. He also has been appointed to a three-year term on the board of directors for Legal Action of Wisconsin Inc., a publicly funded law firm providing civil legal services to low-income clients in 11 southern Wisconsin counties.

    The Association for Women Lawyers (AWL) recently presented its 1997 Mentor Award to Laura Brown, U.W. 1990, of von Briesen, Purtell & Roper S.C., Milwaukee. The AWL's 1997 Pro Bono Award went to Milwaukee's Task Force on Family Violence; its 1997 Community Involvement Award was given to Maureen McGinnity, U.W. 1982, of Foley & Lardner, Milwaukee.

    Clare M. Bader, U.W. 1997, has become an associate practicing in family law, paternity and guardian ad litem work, and the general practice of law, with Radosevich, Mozinski & Cashman, Manitowoc.

    J. Aaron Ball, American University, Washington College of Law 1997, has joined Tuchscherer & Smith S.C., Wausau, as an associate practicing primarily in business, tax and commercial law, including dealership and commercial banking law.

    Earlean A. Laster, U.W. 1997, and Jennifer Ament Moeller, Marquette 1994, have joined Butler Rodgers Law Offices, Milwaukee, as associates practicing criminal law, personal injury, bankruptcy, real estate, and general corporate and business law.

    Scott J. Campbell, Michigan 1990, is serving as an assistant attorney general for the Republic of Palau, a newly independent country located in Micronesia, where he represents the Republic in civil and criminal matters. He is on leave from the Milwaukee office of Michael, Best & Friedrich.

    John W. Daniels, Jr., Harvard 1974, a partner and member of the management committee at Quarles & Brady, Milwaukee, has been elected national vice president of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL). He served this past year as the national treasurer of ACREL.

    Julianna Ebert, Marquette 1981, a partner in the Milwaukee office of Quarles & Brady, has been appointed to the ABA's Task Force on Pay to Play to study ethics issues created when lawyers contribute to political campaigns.

    Richard S. Florsheim, Marquette 1974 magna cum laude, a partner in Foley & Lardner's Milwaukee office, has been named chair of the firm's nationwide intellectual property department, which recently was reorganized into six practice groups.

    Kevin Chandler Ford, Toledo 1992, has been certified a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a group of trial lawyers who have achieved a verdict or settlement of $1 million or more.

    Susan M. (Williams) Fuller, U.W. 1996, has joined Stewart Law Office, Madison, practicing in real estate transactions, estate planning and general litigation.

    Godfrey & Kahn S.C. recently announced the addition of three new associates in its Milwaukee office: Sean O. Bosack, Marquette 1997, will practice litigation; Renee Hardt, Boston 1997 with honors, will practice in securities; and Jeremy D. Newman, Michigan 1997, will practice corporate law.

    Jason A. Greller, U.W. 1995, has joined Knoll, Hart & Caulum S.C., Madison, as a shareholder practicing personal injury and civil litigation.

    Shawn D. Guse, U.W. 1995 cum laude, has joined Davis & Kuelthau S.C. as an associate in the firm's Sheboygan office. He practices public and private sector labor and employment law, municipal and school law, business/corporate law and estate planning.

    John Hawley, U.W. 1982 cum laude, has been elected treasurer of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), which governs high school athletics. Hawley practices with Darrow, Dietrich & Hawley, Random Lake.

    The Green Bay office of Kasdorf, Lewis & Swietlik S.C. has expanded and moved its offices to 727 E. Walnut St.

    Robert J. Kasieta, Marquette 1983, and Stephen J. Nording, U.W. 1980, have formed the Kasieta Legal Group LLC, in the Capitol Bank Building, 710 N. High Point Rd., Madison. The new practice includes personal injury, products liability, employment law, general corporate services, banking, taxation, estate planning and real estate.

    Thomas D. Klein, Marquette 1994, formerly of Centro Legal Inc., has joined the law offices of Attorney Bruce M. Peckerman in the practice of family law. Their new offices are at 920 E. Mason St., Milwaukee.

    Mary J. Koshollek, Marquette 1993, an attorney and director of research at von Briesen, Purtell & Roper S.C., Milwaukee, was elected vice president/president-elect of the Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin, a statewide professional group comprised of members from law firms, law schools, state and federal agencies and courts.

    Beth J. Kushner, Virginia 1979, of von Briesen, Purtell & Roper S.C., Milwaukee, recently was awarded the Gene and Ruth Posner Foundation Inc. 14th annual Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award at Marquette Law School's Posner Pro Bono Seminar for incoming freshman law students.

    Kristen E. Crisp, Duke 1991, Todd G. Smith, U.W. 1996 cum laude, and Robert F. Tomlinson, U.W. 1996, have joined LaFollette & Sinykin, Madison, as associates. Crisp practices insurance regulation and coverage and financial institutions law; Smith practices general litigation with an emphasis in employment and insurance litigation; and Tomlinson practices business and intellectual property law.

    The Municipal Attorneys Section of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities recently elected: president - Warren Kraft, Oshkosh; and secretary - Hector de la Mora, Elm Grove.

    Delos N. Lutton, Chicago 1973, a shareholder at Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, Norris & Rieselbach S.C., Milwaukee, has been elected the U.S. national vice president of the UIA-International Association of Lawyers. The association promotes international legal exchanges, the vigorous legal defense of clients free of government interference, idea exchange between legal systems and comparative law studies of business and general legal problems.

    Dennis R. McBride, N.Y.U. 1980, recently was elected president-elect of the U.W.-Milwaukee Alumni Association. He also was named a director (ex officio) of The UWM Foundation Inc. McBride is supervisory trial attorney for the Milwaukee district office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

    Ruthann M. Davis, Marquette 1983, and Kathryn McGrane-Sargent, Marquette 1985, have formed McGrane-Sargent & Davis LLP at 13500 Watertown Plank Rd., Elm Grove. They practice estate planning and probate.

    Steve Werner, U.W. 1997 with honors, and Kayla R. Korkow, U.W. 1997, have joined Nowlan & Mouat, Janesville, as associates. Werner practices business, corporate and real estate law and estate planning; Korkow practices business and municipal law.

    Thomas R. Revnew, Marquette 1994, has joined Davis & Kuelthau S.C., Milwaukee, as an associate practicing public and private sector labor and employment law and employee benefits.

    Shawn G. Rice, Marquette 1993, has joined as general counsel the executive management team of Schreier Malting Co., Sheboygan; Biggar, Saskatchewan, Canada; and Nanjing, People's Republic of China. He formerly was associated with Kohner, Mann & Kailas S.C., Milwaukee.

    Karl M. Schmitz III, U.W. 1992, has opened Karl M. Schmitz III P.A., at 5219 Ehrlich Rd., Ste. B, Tampa, Fla. He practices in all nonlitigation matters of residential and commercial real estate transactions and the issuance of title insurance.

    Richard Schroeder, Hamline 1992, of Michaelson, Schroeder and Mandel, Minneapolis, Minn., has been appointed to an editorial advisory committee of Twin Cities Business Monthly, providing insight on legal issues and trends, and offering ideas for upcoming articles.

    Jonathan P. Siner, U.W. 1969, was elected to the board of directors of the Chicago Council on Planned Giving. Siner is director of planned giving for Lyric Opera, Chicago, Ill.

    Eric P. Slotegraaf, Detroit 1994, LLM (Tax) WSU 1995, has become associated with the Milwaukee office of Arthur Andersen LLP.

    Christopher B. Hughes, Indiana Bloomington 1993, and Laura Skilton Verhoff, U.W. 1997, have become associates with Stafford, Rosenbaum, Rieser & Hansen, with offices in Madison and Sun Prairie.

    Sutton & McNamara-McGraw S.C. has been formed by Larraine McNamara-McGraw, Marquette 1982, former Milwaukee alderperson, and Robert E. Sutton, Marquette 1960. Their new firm is at 2631 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee.

    Thomas D. Sykes, Ohio 1979, has been appointed assistant chief in the U.S. Department of Justice's Tax Division. He assists in managing the division's Court of Federal Claims section, where 23 attorneys handle the defense of all tax-related suits brought in the Court of Federal Claims, Washington, D.C.

    Michael W. Taibleson, Chicago-Kent 1990, has joined the Milwaukee office of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., as an associate practicing in employee benefits law. He formerly was senior manager and employee benefit tax consulting group practice leader for Deloitte & Touche LLP, Milwaukee.

    John C. Thomure Jr., U.W. 1993, has been appointed as assistant adjunct professor of law at Marquette University Law School for Fall 1997 and Spring 1998, teaching legal writing and communication. Thomure is an associate practicing in commercial litigation and criminal appeals at Kohler & Hart, Milwaukee.

    Christopher J. Dodge, U.W. 1990, and Peter M. Garson, Marquette 1988, have become shareholders of Tomlinson, Gillman & Rikkers S.C., Madison. Dodge practices litigation, commercial and residential real estate and dealership law. Garson practices business and corporate planning, estate planning and taxation.

    Susan Knepel, Marquette 1986, president of the State Bar's Government Lawyers Division, recently received a Director's Award for superior performance in her job as assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District. The award recognizes Knepel's outstanding administration of civil cases, especially her bankruptcy litigation work. John W. Vaudreuil, U.W. 1979, senior litigation counsel in the U.S. attorney's office in the Western District, also received a Director's Award for superior performance in criminal law prosecution, especially for prosecuting a drug conspiracy case in Dunn County. The U.S. Justice Department sponsors the awards honoring employees of the 94 districts of the U.S. Attorneys Office. U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno presented the awards during a special ceremony in Washington, D.C., in September.

    Jay A. Urban, Marquette 1992, has been appointed to the board of governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America -New Lawyers Division. He currently chairs the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers -New Lawyers Section. Urban practices plaintiffs personal injury litigation with Techmeier & Van Grunsven S.C., Milwaukee.

    Angela M. Van Boxtel, Marquette 1997, has joined Shneidman, Myers, Dowling, Blumenfield, Ehlke, Hawks & Domer, Milwaukee, as an associate practicing worker's compensation, unemployment compensation and social security disability.

    Lieutenant Jeffrey K. Van Nest, U.W. 1994 cum laude, recently transferred to the Office of the Judge Advocate General, Appellate Defense Division, Washington, D.C. He will represent service members on appeal before the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals, Court of Appeals, for the Armed Forces and the U.S. Supreme Court. He formerly was stationed at Naval Legal Service Office West, San Francisco, Calif.

    Gretchen Viney, U.W. 1978, has become a clinical assistant professor with the general practice skills course at U.W. Law School. She is a partner with Viney & Viney, Baraboo, where she continues to practice part-time.

    R. Michael Waterman, Hamline 1995, has become adjunct professor of law for the 1997-98 academic year at William Mitchell College of Law, teaching legal writing and research. He also will maintain his business, criminal and employment law practice with Mudge, Porter, Lundeen & Seguin S.C., Hudson.

    Thomas R. Werlein, Minnesota 1989, has joined Northland Insurance Co., St. Paul, Minn., as litigation specialist in its personal lines claims division. He formerly was a senior associate attorney with Johnson & van Vliet L.L.P., St. Paul.

    James A. Wynn Jr., Marquette 1979, North Carolina Court of Appeals Judge, recently presented a lecture seminar on the Uniform Code of Judicial Conduct at the ABA Military Appellate Judges Seminar at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
