    Civil Legal Aid Continues Online

    Wisconsin Free Legal Answers logo

April 24, 2020 - Although most in person volunteer legal clinics are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Wisconsin Free Legal Answers (WFLA), the online free legal clinic, remains open and has become an even more important part of the legal profession’s response to the unmet legal needs facing Wisconsin residents. WFLA has over 260 licensed Wisconsin attorney volunteers ready to respond to legal questions on any civil (non criminal) legal matter.

Since the Governor’s March 25 Safer at Home order, WFLA volunteers have responded to 122 legal questions, including 38 that were pandemic related. The most common areas for questions related to the coronavirus have been family law (child placement concerns), workplace leave and safety, and unemployment benefits.

Individuals who have questions about a civil legal issue can be directed to https://wi.freelegalanswers.org (click on Get Started). A downloadable flyer (pdf) is also available.
