    December 12, 2013

Madison, WI – The State Bar of Wisconsin is recognizing the Wisconsin Association for Justice (WAJ) for its generous donation to the 2014 National High School Mock Trial Championship, which will be hosted by the State Bar in Madison next May.

The State Bar and its charitable arm, the Wisconsin Law Foundation, have set a $200,000 fundraising goal to help cover the cost of venues, awards, activities and materials for participants, who in recent years have hailed from 46 states, Guam, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, and South Korea.

WAJ is being honored as a Silver Gavel level sponsor ($10,000-$24,999).

"The Wisconsin Association for Justice's foundation, the Wisconsin Civil Justice Education Foundation, is honored to join the ABA in supporting this year's National Mock Trial competition,” said Attorney Ed Vopal. “One of the tenets of the Foundation is ‘to promote education and training in the art of advocacy through instructional programs.’ Supporting our young people to enable them to learn about the law is a great opportunity to introduce them to a potential legal career and the responsibilities we all share in our society."

Attorney Vopal encouraged other State Bar sections, law firms and individuals to donate.

“National Mock Trial is an opportunity for young people to learn about the law and grow to become leaders in their community,” said Vopal. “On behalf of Wisconsin Association for Justice members, I urge fellow attorneys, local businesses and individuals to make a donation to National Mock Trial 2014 and help ensure that these young people have a truly memorable learning experience.”
