MADISON, April 25, 2005 – Last Friday was the deadline for submitting applications to the Federal Nominating Commission for the vacant position of United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin. The opening results from J.B. Van Hollen's recent resignation.

The Federal Nominating Commission has been making recommendations to Wisconsin's U.S. Senators since 1979. The Commission will screen applicants and interview potential candidates before submitting its final recommendations to Senators Kohl and Feingold.

Those applying for the Madison-based post include (in alphabetical order):

    • Sean P. Duffy of Ashland
    • Craig S. Lambert of Wisconsin Rapids
    • Albert D. Moustakis of Eagle River
    • Erik C. Peterson of Barneveld
    • Patrick G. Schilling of Minocqua
    • Stephen P. Sinnott of Madison

The Commission is chaired by University of Wisconsin Law School Dean Kenneth B. Davis.
