State Bar launches LegalExplorer.com, a new consumer website to help
consumers navigate Wisconsin's legal system
July 22, 2000 - The State Bar of Wisconsin today
launched a new consumer website, designed to help Wisconsin residents
find a lawyer, get answers to legal questions, find out about consumer
news, have access to State Bar consumer education materials and learn
about law-related educational resources.
LegalExplorer,
www.legalexplorer.com, will help Wisconsin residents learn about the
legal system, get answers to frequently asked legal questions, and even
have access to the bar's lawyer referral service if they need an
attorney, with just the click of their computer mouse.
Mark Pennow, chair of the State Bar's Electronic Bar Services Committee,
says the new Web site gives consumers quick and convenient access to a
wealth of information. "It also gives lawyers a chance to fulfill their
civic and professional obligations and develop a positive, constructive
online presence," Pennow said.
The website will offer five main categories:
- need a lawyer
- answers to legal questions
- consumer alerts
- State Bar publications, videotapes and links to other government,
community and internet resources
- law-related education
The new public website will be kept current, and will provide
Wisconsin residents with phone numbers, other agency and organization
website links, contact persons, and other vital information that can
help them get through the legal system while sitting at their
computer.
