State Bar of Wisconsin successfully launches Wisconsin's first online legal career center

MADISON, December 19, 2001 - The State Bar of Wisconsin has launched the state's first online Legal Career Center, serving lawyers, paralegals, legal support staff and employers. Featured on the Bar's Web site, www.wisbar.org, the Legal Career Center has more than 3,500 new legal positions posted monthly for job seekers to review and more than 11,000 resumes for employers to search, in Wisconsin and nationwide. In the first two months of operation, more than 1,000 users have accessed the resource.

In partnership with the Legal Career Center Network - the nation's largest legal-only job and resume site - the State Bar now provides a comprehensive, one-stop resource where the legal community can fulfill its hiring and job-seeking needs. Employers and agencies can cost-effectively post job openings and job seekers can confidentially search the local or national database for free. Resources also include sample contracts, letters, resumes, job search tips and interviewing techniques.

"We are pleased to provide such a cost-effective and easy-to-use service to the legal community," said State Bar Executive Director George Brown. "Using the power of the Internet, we can assist employers in finding and hiring competent legal professionals which will enable them to provide top-quality legal services to the public."

Employers can create detailed job listings for attorneys and support staff and have them posted the very same day. Job postings are entered into the Legal Career Center Network of more than 32 legal associations and 16 legal portals such as LawGuru.com, The Attorney Store and Attorney.com.

"By joining many legal communities together in one network of online job and resume listing services, we are quickly building the most powerful and cost-effective recruiting tool the legal industry has ever seen," added Mark Crall, Vice President of Legalstaff.com.
