    Local Attorney Appointed Board Liaison

MADISON, July 21, 2005 – State Bar of Wisconsin President D. Michael Guerin recently appointed Attorney Thomas Bertz of Anderson, O'Brien, Bertz, Skrenes & Golla in Stevens Point as the Board of Governors Liaison to the State Bar's Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section for a one year term. As the liaison of one of the Bar's 26 sections Bertz is responsible for encouraging communication between the section and the Board of governors as well as keeping the section appraised of Board deadlines. Bertz was elected to a two-year term on the State Bar of Wisconsin Board of Governors, the body responsible for managing and directing the affairs and activities of the statewide association.

"The sections initiate valuable efforts that have a lasting impact on the Bar, the legal profession, the public and the people involved in our organization," said Bertz. "My knowledge about policies and procedures coupled with my ability to coordinate section efforts will continue to insure open communication between the Board and the section which helps the organization function as effectively as possible."

The 49-member Board of Governors manages and directs the affairs and activities of the State Bar of Wisconsin. The term of office is two years, commencing on July 1 following the spring election.

The State Bar of Wisconsin is the mandatory professional association, created by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, for attorneys who hold a Wisconsin law license. With more than 21,000 members, the State Bar aids the courts in improving the administration of justice, provides continuing legal education for its members to help them maintain their expertise, and assists Wisconsin lawyers in carrying out community service initiatives to educate the public about the legal system and the value of lawyers.
