Wisconsin high school students learn about their rights
State Bar program helps students study the constitution

High School students from five different Wisconsin schools will be coming to the State Capitol in Madison this weekend to learn about their rights and the constitution.

"We the People...the Citizen and the Constitution is a program sponsored this year by the State Bar of Wisconsin and will be held at the State Capitol in several legislative hearing rooms on Saturday, January 13th. Seven teams from five high schools, including Hortonville, Heritage Christian, Country Christian, Ripon and Wauwatosa East, will be competing in a series of mock congressional hearings in which students answer questions on historical aspects and modern day application of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Each team accumulates points during the six-unit competition, and the team with the winning total will move on to the national finals in Washington D.C. April 21-23 to represent Wisconsin.
