In a challenging economy, there is no position within the State Bar of Wisconsin of greater importance than treasurer. The treasurer is tasked with the responsibility of assisting the Executive Committee and State Bar staff with creating the organization’s annual budget. As a mandatory bar association, the Bar has an affirmative obligation to spend its funds prudently and act in a fiscally responsible manner when funding programs and initiatives.

For several years, I’ve practiced law in rural Western Wisconsin and the Twin Cities Metro area. I’m aware of the financial challenges facing rural practitioners and the assistance the State Bar provides with properly funded programs statewide.

As a small business owner, I’m experienced in balancing budgets, analyzing revenues, and prioritizing expenses. The State Bar is no different.

As a leader within the organization, I’ve led the Young Lawyers Division as its president and currently serve on the Board of Governors and Executive Committee. I have been active in the Bar for several years and view the opportunity to serve as treasurer as a chance to continue to give back to a great organization.

The economy presents great challenges for practitioners in firms large and small, urban and rural. Economic pressures also affect the Bar, its staff, programs and initiatives. Our response must be dynamic, innovative, and timely. As treasurer, I intend to promote these values while remaining accountable to our membership. I believe it is our mission and our responsibility.

I look forward to the opportunity to earn your vote.
