    Your Vote Matters – Introducing the 2026 Officer Candidates

    Meet the 2026 State Bar of Wisconsin officer candidates, including Milwaukee lawyers who are nominees for State Bar president-elect. The candidates represent a wide variety of backgrounds – get to know them before the election in April.

    Dec. 5, 2026 – Lisa M. Lawless and Anna F.C. Muñoz have accepted nominations to run for 2026 State Bar of Wisconsin president-elect.

    Both candidates are lawyers active in Milwaukee. Lawless (Indiana 1992) is with Husch Blackwell LLP, and Muñoz (Marquette 2005) is with Brookdale Senior Living Inc.

    The president-elect serves a one-year term before becoming president on July 1, 2027.

    The nominees for secretary are Basil J. Buchko (Notre Dame 1999), with Oneida Law Office in Manitowoc; and Joseph M. Cardamone III (U.W. 1998), Kenosha County Corporation Counsel in Kenosha.

    The candidates for Judicial Council representative are Saveon D. Grenell (Thurgood Marshall 2014), with Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet LLC of Waukesha; and Jason D. Luczak (Chicago-Kent, 2008), with Gimbel Reilly Guerin & Brown, LLP, of Milwaukee.

    The Nominating Committee members, appointed by State Bar President Dan Gartzke, are:

    • Jill Kastner, chair
    • Daniel Bestul
    • Krista LaFave
    • Emil Ovbiagele
    • Dennis Puzz

    State Bar members can also run for an officer position by filing a petition signed by 100 active State Bar members. The deadline to submit a petition is Feb. 2, 2026.     Those elected take office July 1, 2026.

    Candidates Needed for Board of Governors Positions; Submit Petitions by March 2, 2026

    The Board of Governors is the State Bar's policymaking body, and governors serve two-year terms.

    Consider contributing your time and expertise as a Board representative. Members who wish to run for these positions must file a petition signed by 10 active State Bar members by March 2, 2026.     Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, and 16 will elect governors in 2026. District 2 (Milwaukee) will elect three; District 6 (Waukesha) will elect two; District 9 (Dane) will elect five; and all other districts will elect one governor.

    Vote in April 2026: Look for Your Email Ballot

    All State Bar elections (including for State Bar divisions and sections) will be held via an electronic ballot in 2026, starting April 9, 2026.

    The election closes at noon Central time on April 24, 2026.

    Please note: If you have placed any holds on emails from the State Bar, you may not receive an electronic ballot. Contact Customer Service at (800) 444-9404 to verify that your account is set up to receive your email ballot.

    State Bar members with no email address on file will receive paper ballots. Paper ballots will be mailed on April 8, 2026.
