Sept. 16, 2020 – The year 2020 has turned out to be incredibly challenging to make the connections you need to move your career forward.

Getting involved with the State Bar is a great way to gain leadership opportunities and get to know your colleagues following the challenges of this 2020 pandemic year, says State Bar President-elect Cheryl Daniels.

“By putting yourself forward as a possible candidate, you have the opportunity to more easily make those connections and to help your fellow lawyers at the same time,” Daniels said.

Getting involved – such as running for State Bar officer or a position on its Board of Governors – puts you in touch with new areas of Wisconsin’s legal community.

“When I became involved with the Bar, I didn’t realize how much I would become part of the fabric of the State Bar’s legal community. Since then, I been able to work with so many great lawyers, making great friends as we work to further the mission of the Bar and of the Wisconsin Law Foundation,” Daniels said.

Her work with the State Bar has also given her immense amount of satisfaction.

“As a government lawyer, this brought me out of my government world and into the wider world of the profession. And I’ve never regretted it,” she said.
