    Get Retirement Planning Tips at Annual Senior Lawyers Division CLE Program in May

    Need guidance on your retirement preparation and transition? Attend the annual Senior Lawyers Division CLE program in May – available in Eau Claire or Madison.

    April 17, 2019 – Get concrete ideas about how to set up a solid retirement plan and tips on closing or transitioning your practice at the annual Senior Lawyer’s Division (SLD) CLE program on the Do’s and Don’ts of Considering Retirement or Transitioning Your Professional Life, offered on two dates and locations in May.

    Whether you’re overwhelmed about where to begin or would just like some assistance along the way, the program breaks the process down into manageable steps. Topics include:

    • Preparing for transition: Learn how to utilize a financial advisor to begin the process of creating a retirement plan and recognizing competency issues.

    • Medicare/Social Security considerations: Guidance on applying for benefits and obtaining supplemental coverage through available health care programs.

    • Technology issues in retirement: Learn more about State Bar resources and technology available to assist you with the transition into retirement.

    • Transition planning: Get important information on making a smooth transition by learning about transferring clients, finding a successor attorney, planning for death or disability, and more.

    • Ethics of transitions: Get answers to ethical questions and concerns when transitioning out of the practice of law and the ethical side of retirement including maintaining client fields, referral arrangements, limited scope representation, and more.

    Two Locations

    This year’s CLE program will again be held in two locations on different days in May, to offer options for lawyers across the state. The sessions are:

    • Eau Claire: Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Holiday Inn Eau Claire South

    • Madison: Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the State Bar Center

    Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., and the program is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    The program is applied for 6.5 CLE credits, including 1.0 EPR credits.

    How to Register

    Registration for the CLE is $20 for SLD members and $30 for non-SLD members, and includes a box lunch for those registering in advance. To be guaranteed a lunch, register by April 18, 2019, for the Eau Claire CLE program and April 30, 2019, for the Madison CLE program. Advance registration is requested, but not required.
