    March 20, 2019 – Young lawyers, don’t miss the 10th Annual Young Lawyers Conference, March 29, at the Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club in Madison.

    The conference, sponsored by the Young Lawyers Division, is filled with information and insights specifically for young lawyers, says Jose Castro, a member of the planning committee.

    “It’s a great chance to come together, make connections, and learn how to navigate challenging aspects of practice,” said Eileen Dorfman, a member of the conference’s planning committee.

    Register by March 24 – tuition is complimentary for members of the State Bar of Wisconsin Young Lawyers Division (YLD) – lawyers under the age of 36 or who are in their first five years of practice.

    Keynote Presentation: Young Lawyers as Future Leaders

    Don’t miss the keynote presentation by Tommy Preston, chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (ABA YLD), speaking about young lawyers and innovation.

    Under Preston’s leadership, the ABA YLD launched several new national initiatives, including the Men of Color Project, to support minority male law students and young lawyers; the No Limits! Campaign addressing issues facing female lawyers; and A Seat at the Table, a civic engagement initiative for young lawyers.

    Cost: Tuition is complimentary for members of the State Bar of Wisconsin Young Lawyers Division. Lunch is included for YLD members who register before March 24.

    CLE Sessions for Young Lawyers

    Additional CLE sessions feature issues important to young lawyers, such as:

    • exploring alternative career paths for lawyers;

    • discussing issues facing women in the legal profession;

    • working through difficult client situations;

    • lawyers’ assistance programs and facing wellness issues as a young lawyer;

    • combating implicit bias.

    Make Connections, Boost Your Career

    This year’s conference includes extra time for networking between CLE sessions, and a networking reception at the end of the conference.

    “This is a great opportunity for young lawyers to get to know each other, said conference co-chair, Kristen Hardy. “I have made so many great connections in past years of the conference.”

    Celebrate a Mentor and Outstanding Young Lawyer

    The conference is also a time to celebrate a mentor – helping young lawyers gain experience and shape their careers – and a peer – a young lawyer making a difference in their community.

    How to Register

    The conference is submitted to the Board of Bar Examiners for up to 6.0 CLE credits, including 1.0 EPR credit.
