Celebrating 50 Years: Honoring 246 Wisconsin Lawyers Admitted to Practice in 1968

Congratulations to the members who entered the profession in 1968! The State Bar is hosting an event to honor their 50-year milestone as Wisconsin lawyers.

Feb. 21, 2018 – It was a Leap Year. Mattel introduced Hot Wheels toy cars, the Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl II 33-14 over the Oakland Raiders in Miami, and the 1968 Winter Olympics were held in Grenoble, France, and the Summer Olympics in Mexico City.

The Viet Nam war continued, and it was the era of civil rights. The year saw the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy. Students protested at U.W.-Madison and other campuses, Yale University announced that it will admit women, the first interracial kiss on U.S. national television was shown in Star Trek’s third season, and Richard Nixon defeated Vice President Humbert Humphrey for U.S. president.

And, in 1968, 246 lawyers were admitted to practice in Wisconsin.

Join the State Bar of Wisconsin in honoring members who this year reach their 50-year milestone in the legal profession. If you’re one of our honorees, expect an invitation by mail in mid-March for a celebratory luncheon on Monday, May 7, in Delafield.

If you know of members who were admitted to the State Bar in 1968 whose names are missing from this list, please contact Beth Drake at (608) 250-6171 or (800) 444-9404, ext. 6171.
