    Thanksgiving Message

    Nov. 22, 2017 – State Bar of Wisconsin members, including lawyers and judges, work tirelessly to serve individuals and families, businesses, governments, communities, and the legal profession. Thank you. Your work matters. You make a difference.

    You are advocates, advisers, counselors, and decision-makers. You use your knowledge and skills to protect the interests of your clients, uphold constitutional r​ights, preserve the rule of law, and facilitate the peaceful resolution of conflict in society.

    Larry MartinLarry Martin is the executive director of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

    Whether you are representing someone accused of a crime, or seeking justice for victims, your work matters. Whether you are advising an employer on overtime laws, seeking relief for workplace discrimination, negotiating a merger, mediating a divorce, drafting an estate plan, or navigating a construction deal, you make a difference.

    You are essential to the proper functioning of society. You solve problems, you help right wrongs. You facilitate innovation and policy. You help drive economic value and foster business success. You are a voice for the voiceless, an advocate in hard times.

    You provide pro bono assistance to those in need. You help educate the lawyers and leaders of tomorrow. You donate your time and money for good causes.

    You volunteer for nonprofit boards, civic associations, and bar associations. You provide leadership on important issues facing communities and the legal profession.

    Together, and as individuals, you do amazing things every day. Thank you for the work you do, for the difference you make. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.
