Madison, WI – American Bar Association President William C. Hubbard will present the Inaugural Speech of the G. Lane Ware Leadership Address entitled “Leadership and the Future of Legal Services” to the next generation of leaders in the legal profession, as part of the 6th Annual Young Lawyers Leadership Conference in Milwaukee on March 20.
The Young Lawyers Leadership Conference, hosted by the State Bar’s Young Lawyers Division, will focus on fostering the knowledge, skills and motivation new lawyers need to become active members in the State Bar, local bar associations, and other public service organizations.
In conjunction with the conference, the State Bar is also hosting its third Leadership Development Summit. Twenty-four new lawyers, nominated by legal professionals from throughout the state, were invited to take part in the summit. Hubbard, along with the other presenters, will encourage conference and summit participants to invest in their careers by taking on leadership roles and actively engaging in volunteerism.
President Hubbard established the ABA Commission on the Future of Legal Services, which will make recommendations on how technology and innovation can help expand the availability of affordable legal services to the poor and middle class. He is also strengthening the association's legal efforts on behalf of domestic violence victims, and leading the ABA's commemoration of the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta in June 2015.
