First Session – Safe Lawyering: Protecting Yourself Against Ethical, Emotional and Professional Disasters

Explore the personality of lawyers, how they differ from the general population, and what lawyers need to protect themselves from meltdown. This insightful workshop will also examine the correlations between lawyer imbalance, malpractice, and disciplinary complaints. You’ll learn steps for disaster prevention or rebuilding following chaos, and what Self-Determination Theory has to do with it.

Linda Albert, the Wisconsin Lawyers Assistance Program manager will present this session. Albert is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified alcohol and drug counselor with 25 years of experience.

Second Session – Avoiding Malpractice Using the New Breed of Practice Management Tools

Avoid a number of malpractice traps by simply using modern practice management tools including calendaring, time and billing, and more. Learn how these tools can help you not become an OLR statistic and help you organize your practice to run more effectively and efficiently, while becoming more mobile in the process. Leverage new cloud-based tools to give you anywhere, anytime access to the data you need to ethically represent your clients.

This session is presented by Nerino Petro, State Bar practice management advisor. Petro has 14 years of solo legal practice experience, and 12 years as CEO of CenCom Legal Technologies, which he founded to help lawyers and their staff deal with the practice management issues facing them.
