Is Your Health Insurance Plan Right for You? Time to Reassess

In this video, Corrine Bultman of Bultman Financial Services answers some questions about the health insurance “marketplace” under the Affordable Care Act. Open enrollment is Nov. 15, 2014 to Feb. 15, 2015, so now is the time to explore the options for yourself and your family.

Nov. 5, 2014 – If you are not receiving health insurance through an employer-sponsored plan, or the employer-sponsored plan does not cover premiums for your spouse or children, now is the time to explore your health insurance options.

The open enrollment period for health insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act marketplace, known as the “exchanges,” runs from Nov. 15, 2014 to Feb. 15, 2015.

In this video, Corrine Bultman of Bultman Financial Services answers some questions about open enrollment and who qualifies, considerations for determining what policy is best for you and your family, and who qualifies for income-restricted subsidies.

You might be surprised. For instance, an individual who makes under $46,680 may qualify for a subsidy to help pay for health insurance through the marketplace. A family of four would qualify for a subsidy if household income is less than $95,400.

Bultman, CEO and president at Bultman Financial, was a health insurance presenter at the 2014 Wisconsin Solo and Small Firm Conference, produced by State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE.

She says State Bar members who live both inside and outside Wisconsin should reassess their health insurance needs now and get help in determining what policy to choose during open enrollment.

In addition, the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Insurance and Member Benefits Committee is running a series on navigating health insurance options:
