    PINNACLE Updates Wisconsin Citation Resource

    State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE has updated its Wisconsin Guide to Citation – a companion guide to The Bluebook, designed for attorneys citing Wisconsin-specific sources.

    Oct. 3, 2012 – If you write briefs for Wisconsin courts, you need the State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE® Wisconsin Guide to Citation, described by attorney Kent Tess-Mattner as “an inexpensive but valuable addition to any Wisconsin lawyer’s library.” The newly released seventh edition of the Guide has been revised to reflect the latest changes in the 19th edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, which makes it a perfect – and necessary – companion to The Bluebook.

    Get Wisconsin-Specific Guidance

    The guide focuses on Wisconsin citations, providing examples for citing the most common primary and secondary authorities in briefs and memoranda. In addition, the guide provides examples of citations to Wisconsin administrative proceedings and appeals, and suggests sources for locating copies of such decisions. The guide also shows how to cite federal court opinions and selected federal statutes and regulations. Special thanks go to Melissa Greipp, assistant professor of legal writing at Marquette Law School, who added a new perspective in reviewing the latest edition and offering suggestions for new content.

    New to the Seventh Edition

    • An expanded discussion of public domain citation format for Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals;

    • Wisconsin and U.S. Constitutions;

    • Wisconsin circuit court and other litigation documents;

    • An expanded index, incorporating the new content; and

    • General rules of citation, including

    • an introduction to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation,

    • common issues related to case citations,

    • generally applicable citation rules, and

    • citation to electronic databases and other online sources according to the revised Bluebook rule.

    No Wisconsin litigator (or law student, paralegal, or legal assistant) should be without it!
