Finding the right group health plan for your firm can be a challenge. One option to consider is the State Bar of Wisconsin Group Health Plan for law firms. For coverage effective Jan. 1, paperwork is due by Dec. 15.
Nov. 20, 2024 – No matter what size law firm you work in, one of the biggest challenges facing everyone is offering competitive compensation and benefits to attract and retain talent while maintaining an attractive work-life balance. A healthy bottom line requires identifying cost-saving options to determine what’s available and what’s right for your team.
The State Bar of Wisconsin
Group Health Plan for Law Firms may help you provide quality health care coverage for your team. For coverage effective Jan. 1, paperwork is due by Dec. 15.
This group health plan is available for members in firms of two or more nonfamily employees. It offers large-group coverage for small groups that band together, resulting in large-group pricing and potential cost savings for smaller firms. Firms can join anytime throughout the year, without disrupting deductibles paid on existing plans. Coverage is provided by Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (aka WPS, WPS Health Insurance).
Law firms can enroll in the group health plan at any time during the year, not just during the open-enrollment period. For coverage effective Jan. 1, paperwork is due by Dec. 15.
Members have found it to be a good cost-saving option. Jennifer Stuber of Stuber Law LLC in Three Lakes shares this following her 2023 enrollment:
"I explored the State Bar's group health plan for law firms, and I am very glad I enrolled. I've had a very positive experience with no issues around coverage or communication. Enrolling in the plan saved me $1000/month on health insurance costs, and I plan to renew my coverage."

Our firm found that the State Bar of Wisconsin group health plan for law firms had a significantly lower premium than we could get for our own group. We are a small firm with about 10 employees. The plan is a PPO so we can go to the health providers of our choosing and have had no issues with coverage or administration. Our contact, Christine Nadolski is super responsive and answers our questions in an easy-to-understand manner. I would highly recommend the plan.
