    Now is the Time: Run for a State Bar Officer or Board Position

    Service to the profession is part of our responsibilities as a professional, says State Bar President-elect Dean R. Dietrich, who encourages members to run for a State Bar officer or Board of Governors position.

    Sept. 21, 2022 – The State Bar of Wisconsin is looking for leaders in service to the State Bar of Wisconsin and the legal profession.

    The State Bar Nominating Committee is looking for candidates for the positions of president-elect, treasurer, and Judicial Council member for the 2023-24 fiscal year.

    Persons interested in serving as a leader of the State Bar in these positions should submit their expression of interest to the Nominations Committee by Oct. 21, 2022, by sending a communication to Jan Marks at jmarks@wisbar.org.

    Service to the profession is part of our responsibilities as a professional. This is your opportunity to enhance your service to the legal profession and Wisconsin lawyers by indicating your interest in serving in one of these positions.

    Dean R. Dietrich Dean R. Dietrich, Marquette 1977, is president-elect of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is a shareholder at Weld Riley S.C., Wausau.

    The president-elect is the future leader of the State Bar, and provides guidance and direction to the Board of Governors and State Bar staff on the many aspects of governance of the association, and contributes to the profession by providing that leadership for the State Bar.

    The State Bar treasurer serves on the Finance Committee and oversees the financial affairs of the organization with assistance of State Bar staff.

    The representative on the Judicial Council assists the Wisconsin Supreme Court in addressing the needs of lawyers and judges that service the public and the legal profession.

    Each of these positions creates an important contribution to the legal profession and the rule of law in our state.

    Service to the Profession, to Clients, and to the Public

    Service to the legal profession and Wisconsin lawyers is an important part of being a professional, and provides support for the growth and development of the legal profession. This service also helps lawyers serve their clients and the public.

    Service to the profession has always been an important part of my career as a legal professional – and it can be part of your career as well.

    The State Bar needs individuals who are committed to the legal profession and service to the State Bar and its members.

    Join State Bar Leadership: Nominations Accepted Through Oct. 21

    The officer positions up for election for 2023-24 are president-elect, treasurer, and Judicial Council representative. You can also submit a petition for a district position on the State Bar’s Board of Governors. Those elected take office July 1, 2023.
