    Wisconsin Law Foundation Match Campaign Deadline is June 30

    Thanks to the generous challenge pledge of attorney Kevin Lyons and his wife, Roseann, all donations to the Wisconsin Law Foundation up to $25,000 made since July 1, 2021, have been doubled. The challenge campaign ends on June 30, so there's still time to donate and double your gift.

    June 15, 2022 – Thanks to the generous challenge pledge of Wisconsin Law Foundation board member attorney Kevin Lyons and his wife, Roseann Lyons, all donations to the foundation up to $25,000 made since July 1, 2021, have been doubled.

    The challenge campaign ends on June 30, so there’s still time to donate and double your gift.

    Start-up and Gap Funding

    As the campaign nears its conclusion, Lyons said he and his wife decided to match contributions to spur donations from members who’ve not donated in a while, or ever.

    Lyons, chairperson of the Foundation's Grants Committee, said grants from the Foundation allow programs to get off the ground – for instance, a high school that decides to join the annual mock trial competition – and fill funding gaps.

    “For instance, Centro Legal in Milwaukee has funding from many sources but it may have gaps in its funding that the Foundation can fill. “

    The long-term goal for the Foundation, Lyons said, is to grow the Foundation’s corpus to the point where it can make sustaining gifts – recurring gifts funded by corpus interest and investment income.

    How to Give

    It's easy to give: just add your contribution to line 9 on your State Bar dues statement. If a colleague fills out your form for you, just let them know you wish to make a contribution to the Wisconsin Law Foundation.

    If you have already sent in your dues statement, you can make a donation online at wisbar.org/wlf.

    The Wisconsin Law Foundation supports programs that enhance the public's knowledge of the justice system, encourages diversity in the profession, and assists young lawyers with taking up leadership roles.

    "We sincerely appreciate any contribution amount. Thank you for your consideration and support," says Peggy Herlitzka, Foundation president.

    Foundation Supports Vital Programs

    The Law Foundation provides funding for an array of programs in communities across Wisconsin, including:

    • developing the next generation of legal and civic leaders;

    • promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives;

    • supporting teen courts and restorative justice efforts; and

    • grants to attorneys providing services in rural and underserved communities.

    To meet the demand and help address issues caused by the pandemic, the Wisconsin Law Foundation is working hard to increase its ability to support these programs.
